Going into the real world, concerned i might not have a social life?

So i got a myself a job straight out of uni (and a graduate one at that) but because i'm living with my parents for the duration (worked out cheaper) means i'm commuting into work everyday and i'm just concerned that this will lead me to have no real social life, and although i'm happy being single at the moment, i do like the idea of finding someone that i could potentially end up dating but beacuse of where i am thats going to be hard, most of the things i did at uni (such as singing and Salsa dancing) although there are those things around they are on during the weekday just when i finish work and i'm going to be too exhausted by the time i get home to even consider going

Now obviously i know people have made social lives work while they have a job, thing is i'm worried that this situation might cause me to become a hermit (and not by choice), i've been a hermit (well more like the classic nerd seclusion) for a large part of my life and i'd rather not that happen again

I think sometimes you have to weigh up the benefits of saving money vs. being happy.

Do you have friends in your hometown to socialise with?

How long is your commute?

The contract is only a year, it wasn't really viable to live away from parents for only 1 year, only 1 friend in my home town and commute take about 1hr 20mins

You could easily get a house share near work for one year...? Why wouldn't it be viable? :smile:

Would be too late as i start work on Monday, and after this year i plan to find another job they might offer me a full time job at this place (for which i would end up moving closer)

In this case I would definitely move out of home. You can still work and look for a house share :smile:

It's not too late because you start on Monday. There's no reason why not!

If you want to continue working there or will be looking for another job after there's no reason at all to spend year at home being unhappy - especially if you're going to eventually move closer anyway.
