And lets be serious. GP is one of the easiest jobs in that field. Just because of the fact they sit there all day and don't really have that much hard work to do. It's mainly filling out forms, writing letters and talking to patients. You're not going to come home at the end of the day feeling exhausted or stressed out.

Yes but iv known some who are in there from 7 till 9 and still their work doesnt stop..seven days a week. you kinda need to be an encyclopedia to be a gp..

Evidently not.

Heres something else you probably dont know: When GPs are simply 'sitting on their bum all day writing prescriptions', they are actually analysing mountains of trial data, trying to decipher if a certain treatment is best for the patient. If you think that has no stress involved, then you really are naive.

Not really. If they're unsure of something they'l just refer the patient to a specialist, get a second opinion or actually look up the possiblities in an encyclopedia. You're not expected to know everything lol.

but if they keep on referring unecessarily wasting consultants time ..? I would rather choose a speciality rather than be gp but anyhus thats just my opinion.

lmao I know what a GP does. I spent a lot of time looking into medicine as well as asking relatives who are doctors about their job when I was deciding whether I wanted to go into medicine since my parents were trying to push me into it. You lot are just deluding yourselves into thinking this stuff difficult in comparison to other jobs. People choose to be a GP over other jobs in medicine because it's comfortable.

But have you actually observed what it's like? GPs have a huge responsibility as being the first point of contact. I've shadowed GPs and consultants and general practice is not an easy job. You should see some of the patients they encounter on a day to day basis, it'd drive some people mad. GPs can go from diagnosing appendicitis to various cancers, life threatening decisions.

WOW. GP has a lot more responsibilities; CPD, on call shifts, MAINTAINING A PRACTISE as well as being the first contact point for patients. You must have no idea what life as a GP if you honestly think its "FILLING OUT FORMS, WRITING LETTERS AND TALKING TO PATIENTS". btw they dont "talk" they diagnose from knowledge they have gained over years of hardwork.

No. They choose it for the flexibility.

Id rather be a rifleman than a soldier that finds IEDs, but that doesnt mean being a rifleman is easy.

You lot are being silly. Diagnosing isn't difficult after 6+ years of studying and gaining knowledge in that field. And when they're unsure of something that could be serious they'l look it up / get another opinion / refer to specialist / work with the patient.

Just think. When you were a kid you probably thought maths was hard. Then you took the lessons and now maths is easy and common knowledge. It's the same for everything. You're mixing up studying with job content.

You lot just have a different idea of whats easy and difficult to me and my relatives obviously rofl

flexibility is part of what makes it comfortable. You have more freedom to live your life without being constrained by work.
