OP brought up the fact she is black. Her being black is all we really know about her apart from her being female. Twerking is a big thing in 'black' Western culture, hence the question was asked of the OP. Stop being so butthurt and overly paranoid.

If I posted a thread about being Muslim, I'd also expect to be asked about Muslim cultural stereotypes and their accuracy

The thing is that black people are usually from different constituent countries, so having those stereotypes can be very annoying and oversimlifying. It's like saying all white people are obsessed with garlic, saying "zut alor" and wear stripy t-shirts. And I'm sure people would pull me up on that. I don't blame people for their ignorance, but c'mon!

Twerking is customary to the carnival cultures from some caribbean islands and the Americans commercialised it. That's where it came from. There is no "Black" culture. People in places like Sudan are not twerkers.
My question to the OP. What are your thoughts on Religion?

Hiyya I sometimes wear it natural but at the moment I've got braids n yh definitely the best decision to he heat free as your hair doesn't get damaged :smile:

I'm south African n I think natural hair is better than relaxed as it grows better and faster however relaxed hair looks nice but the hair would start breaking n all DAT..

I don't really get annoyed cause I know there r people who stereotype everywhere n I think it depends on the place someone lives in for example in north wales there were few blacks you could Hardly see a black girl but here in Manchester its packed with everyone from everywhere.

I'm black African n I think they hate on east African girls because of their hair maybe coz Somalians etc have long soft hair than the hard afro don't know if you get what I mean:smile:

I used to love relaxers then my hair was damaged really bad so I big chopped and never looked back.
Plus my own hair is curly and coily and it's fine the way it is!
