No, I live in London but I want to go to Brighton
I have no idea why it's so expensive, aside from that what I've applied for is self catered with an en suite

Is the en-suite really necessary? Considering how much money you'll have, it doesn't sound like you'll have much money leftover.

I think its down to personal preference .I cannot share a bathroom with anybody outside my family as weird as that sounds.I'd rather not have money for food ,use that money to cover the cost of the ensuite accommodation than share a bathroom with total strangers.Im obsessed with a sparkling clean scented bathroom .
Maybe guys don't mind sharing a bathroom (I assume you're a guy from your name 'David' ) as girls .
My accomodation (given I get into my firm) is about 5700 and I only get 3600 loan and no grants but it's catered so I guess its a decent price

Well it's up to them... I'd get an en-suite too; even if it does leave with no money because I'd have my own bathroom.

Well the DSA assessor will decide what's best for you  like I'm dyslexic so I got a laptop with specialist equipment, a printer, extra time for assessments and exams, one to one study skills support and extended library loans.

I suppose. I spoke with my uni and they said theycould get me extra time and support if i needed it. But with dyscalculia its not like a laptop or anything could help yknow? Its a weird one :frown:

Personally in my opinion those who would rather be in bigger debt or have no left over money for an en suite need to sort their priorities out but each to their own..

Honestly I just couldn't face having to share a bathroom with strangers, I mean it's okay to share it with family but even then I'm constantly cleaning it.

Yeah so? I like my personal space plus you don't know who you are sharing with until you get there... Also you may get someone who lacks personal hygiene. But if they are struggling for money, they could get a job.

Exactly how I feel, I couldn't deal with someone who'd leave hair down the plug hole and just make a mess in general. I just happen to like my privacy

Well I've seen the old threads about how much people are getting and was wondering how much people are going to be getting for 2014.

In the past I've seen that there are people who are only getting like £30 a week which doesn't seem very much to live on for the entire week. Also mention how much your accommodation is going to cost because it'll be interesting to know

Use this format to keep it easy

Maintenance Loan:
Maintenance Grant:
Bursaries:
Scholarships:
Savings:
Money from Parents:

Accommodation Cost:
Weekly spend after Accommodation:

Mine are.

Maintenance Loan: £3862
Maintenance Grant: £3387
Bursaries: N/A
Scholarships: £2400
Savings: None
Money from Parents: None

Accommodation Cost: £3403 (37 Weeks)
Weekly spend after Accommodation: £168

I'm just finishing, but I suppose you could say that had I filled this out last year, it would be:

Maintenance Loan: £0
Maintenance Grant: £0
Bursaries: £0
Scholarships: £0
Savings: £12000
Money from Parents: £12000

Accommodation Cost: £185 /wk
Weekly spend after Accommodation: £160

Meh, as i said, my opinion. Ive both shared and had an ensuite. Its not that hard. You establish ground rules or clean up when its getting gross.

To be honest my first choice was an en-suite, but I didn't get it which I wasn't too sad about. I just wanted one for more convenience. At least I'll save some more money this way.
Maintenance Loan: £3610
Maintenance Grant: £0
Bursaries: £0
Scholarships: (If I achieve AAA I’ll get £1000 cash + £2000 off accomodation)
Savings: £2160 per year (if I keep my Saturday job)

Money from Parents: N/A maybe the odd care package now and again

Accommodation Cost: £3588
Weekly spend after Accommodation with scholarship: £137

Weekly spend after Accommodation without scholarship: £55

... So I really need to get AAA :s-smilie:

Maintenance Loan: £3600 ish? (The minimum)
Maintenance Grant: £0.00
Bursaries:
£0.00
Scholarships: £0.00
Savings: A few grand, but doesn't mean that i want to use it to cover uni costs...
Money from Parents: Some towards accommodation (not decided on figure yet)

Accommodation Cost: £3552 (37 Weeks)
Weekly spend after Accommodation: £13.50 plus anything my parents can afford to donate

I agree that SF is unfair, for example i have a brother also at uni on the minimum loan so my parents are expected to support both of us plus my eldest brother who's just moved out and themselves just on their earnings and the minimum grant.

Where im going all the rooms are en suite so you dont have much of a choice plus the accommodation is pretty cheap 116.50 per week for self catered en suite or 144.50 for catered en suite
