Movie Madness is an event pitting 64 films against each other in a tournament where only one will triumph (to find out more, click here).

We've found the best film in each of the eight genres and the group winners and runner ups progressed to the last 16 where they fight for the overall win. We're now up to the final 2 films and the shootout for third place has begun.

Who will be the TSR Movie Madness bronze medalist?

Voting is up for one week until Monday 11th August 11:59PM

The Dark Knight (2008)
Chris Nolan's take on the caped crusader turned Batman into the protagonist of a gritty crime drama played for realism and atmosphere, with an unforgettable performance by Heath Ledger as the Joker. The result is a film that demands your attention.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Perhaps the most famous cinematic disappointment ever, The Shawshank Redemption made up for it's poor box office with a second wind on home release based almost solely on word of mouth, catapulting it to the top of many people's film lists. Spanning decades, the film looks at life in prison and a blossoming friendship between the prison's fixer and a man convinced of his own innocence.

Straightforward choice for me. The Dark Knight all the way.

Love both but I have chosen The Shawshank Redemption
This is a hard choice, my #2 and #3 favourite movies of all time.
If it was The Dark Knight Rises (yes I'm one of the few that prefers it), it'd be that.. but I'm gonna have to go for Shawshank! :h:
Easy decision. Neither film is in my top 20-30 or anything but TDK is better.

Oh okay  That's definitely enough time for opinions to change ^^
I feel that a history of great movies and what really makes an amazing movie needs to taught to everyone who has voted for TDK and The lion king as well. Of course TDK was going to be good they only had a bazillion tries at making a good batman.

But aside from my opinion, young M. Freeman would beat up old M. Freeman.....so that obviously means The Shank wins.
The Shawshank Redemption

It's more magical and cinematic. This is what cinema/movies is about. TDK is good, but the themes of Shawshank are timeless and I've seen it many times over the years. TDK isn't as memorable and I was a little bored the second time round -- I maintain it is 20 minutes too long, has stupid scenes like on the boat with the prisoners, and the plot is convoluted without adding much value. Shawshank is simple, extremely well acted and effective.

Shawshank can win
