I thought I'd make another thread, as this thread will be much clearer than the last. All I want from you wonderful people is the following....

I'll start first...

Language or Languages I speak: English, Gujarati
Language or Languages I think in: English


I'm a native English speaker and am learning Japanese, German and going to start Norwegian soon. I try to think in the languages each individually as often as I can :smile:

Languages I speak: English, German and Japanese.
Languages I think in: English, German and Japanese.

Speak - English but in a Scots dialect so I don't pronounce or say most words the same way the English do.
Think - same as above.

Is there one language which is stronger? And so why don't you think in that stronger language?

Language or Languages I speak: English. Cantonese, Mandarin
Language or Languages I think in: Mostly English, Cantonese more when I was younger

I have a better vocabulary and can articulate better in French.

Because I'm a native English speaker and it would be too much effort to think in a foreign language :p:

But if you are a native english speaker, how is your french better than your english? Did you channel hop a lot?

Nah, my English is better than my French. French is the stronger of the two foreign languages I can communicate in, so I have a more developed faculty to think in French. However I can also think in Spanish if need be.

My German and Spanish aren't good enough to think in properly, so I stick to English
