Studying Artificial Intelligence - is there any point?

If I do it at a 'mediocre' university?

Would I still have a chance at earning a good salary?

Depends on which mediocre university you're thinking of?

UCLan

Okay, no you won't, to be fair you'd probably be better going to London Metropolitan (Surprisingly they have quite a good average salary), the average salary of a graduate at UCLan is absolutely disgusting.

My MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) certificate has a higher average salary

£23,000 (London Metropolitan) | £16,000 (UCLan)

Manchester Metropolitan is also quite lame in terms of salary, the average being £16,629

Why are you aiming for such places anyway?

Thanks

Presumably London.

If you messed up your A-Levels then why not consider doing a BTEC? It could significantly increase your chances of getting into a half decent university, as opposed to these mediocre places that accept anything with a partially functioning brain.

I should hope there's a point, I'm applying to study it at Imperial :s-smilie:

Besides, it's the future.

What level BTEC? Doesn't that mean extra time before graduating?

How did you found out average salaries?

Thank you

A Level 3 Extended Diploma. I guess it means 2 years extra time before graduating. If you're willing to go to such mediocre universities then I guess it wouldn't matter.

I wouldn't worry too much about start-up salaries. Unis with lower requirements tend to have students with lower abilities - hence they end up failing and working at McDonalds. An Oxbridge standard student can do very well at any uni. Start early. Do something you're passionate about. Don't waste time.
