Sorry, I'm really getting bombarded with questions. Didn't expect this thread to be that popular. I'm still trying to answer all questions.

What did you graduate with?

Well, let's not talk about that. That's all I can say. It wasn't as good as I'd wanted it to be.

what did you do during freshers? how did you make friends without going clubbing or drinking?

The thing I did was that I got to know a lot of people before starting uni through Facebook. I think it was more of a lucky thing as some of those people really turned out to be extremely socialising with others. So, through the people I got to know on fb, I got to know their friends and over the time, we formed a group of really close friends.

on weekends you went sightseeing and travelled through Europe?

We went to Italy on a weekend trip to watch a Milan match as well as Rome. Also, we went to Scotland and Wales on a weekend trip. Sight-seeing was really just meant to be in Nottinghamshire and surroundings such as natural areas like Peak District, and within Nottingham City or neighbouring cities like Leicester, Loughborough etc.
What is your DP of? I can't work it out. Good on you for not being peer pressured though. I've only ever drunk twice at uni - not a fan of the taste of the alcohol I've had, give me Pepsi Max and OJ any day! Clubbing however is pretty often, it can range from 2x a week to 1x a fortnight depending on workload.

For me the average uni evening is

Monday - go for a swim/work
Tuesday - work / Food shop (nothing much happens on Tuesdays)
Wednesday - work/Cinema (if there's a good film)
Thursday - Society night beginning in a pub, move to bars then 1 of the 2 clubs our town has after (3 if you count the union)
Friday - House chores/Clubbing/film/swimming
Saturday - work (a lot of people return to England / South Wales at weekends) or clubbing
Sunday - work, then go for a walk starting any time between 6pm and 11pm and ending at between 8pm and 1am

Also late night trips (often 2.30am) into town to buy stuff from 24 hour spar that I forgot.

What do you want? A medal?

No, not at all. I just want people to know that they can go through uni without these things. Especially a lot of Muslims (I think more girls than guys) will be nervous about going to uni as they think they'll be left out and not enjoy it etc. Also, I really want to know what people think of someone who is having fun without the things listed.

Do you consider your lifestyle to be the better option for everyone, or do you recognise that it only works for certain people?

I think it can't work for everyone as if you take university as a means of freedom and do whatever you want to without your parents or anyone else telling you what to do, then you would want to drink etc. You need a lot of self control to follow this lifestyle. It wouldn't work for everyone if their environment is different.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not gay.

Actually I think that it would be interesting to consider that a lifestyle without satisfactory/substantial stress relief could lead to bad mental health and to less than satisfactory work.

I'm not trying to provoke you here, I just find the mental dynamics of your lifestyle to be interesting.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know it myself. It was originally an animation when I had TSR subscription. Without subscription it just looks like a simple photo.

There were various factors that led to me not getting the degree I wanted.

What language do you think in?

Why does that matter? I'm not sure myself. I'm pretty much confused when it comes to languages or where I belong to. I think differently from time to time between German, English and Urdu.
You called what you did as "Surviving", but I think that you only know true restraint once you have sampled the products of temptation. So did you try any of these things before you went to Uni?

Wait, why do you think in German? Are you from Germany?

I didn't try any of these things before uni either. The only thing that was different before uni is that I did have female friends all throughout high school and A Levels. And surviving, is the only word that came into my mind to get an attractive title that explains the point.

How come you aren't surprised at Urdu? How do you even know that I must be from another country as well? I lived most of my life in Germany, that's why.

And how much of an influence was your parents on your lifestyle choices?

Because I read you were muslim, so knowing Urdu wouldn't seem strange. I guessed you lived in Germany due to your ability to think in German, which is not seen in the UK.

So which is your best language?

Ahh right. Makes sense. It's really different from time to time. I think mostly English and then German and Urdu the least probably.

They had quite some influence on my lifestyle as I was brought up in a Muslim way. But then again, I did certain things my parents wouldn't want me to (don't wanna talk about it), so I am now really just following what I myself want to do and think is best for me and don't really follow exactly everything my parents want me to. I think their influence was only present up to the age of 18ish.

Not gonna lie, people do both.

You can go out clubbing, and do the things OP did, AND get a good degree.

Couple questions:

- Are you going to do a Masters?
- What subject did you study at uni?
- Do you see yourself as a classical or Keynesian Economist?

Finally remark, you're a good person. I like that you're not influenced by fools.

I'm not doing Masters.
Civil Engineering
I'm not completely sure what that is. If you could elaborate, I could try answer that. Also, how is this relevant to the thread?
Do you have any friends at uni who are in to drinking and clubbing? If so, did you ever feel pressured by them to join in?
