I've only ever been scared of The Shinning.

Haha seriously? The shining isn't really scary, just creepy. If you haven't read the book then id recommend it, Stephen King is a fantastic author and the book is a lot better than the film.

The only film to have ever truly unnerved me was the 1922 Nosferatu. It's in the public domain so you can find it on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcyzubFvBsA

dat door slam scene scary as ****

Eden Lake (Suprisingly scary)
Sunshine (Not very scary but still an excellent space-thriller)
The Strangers - (If you're looking for an average home invasion movie)
Event Horizon (A very good space-horror classic, mixed opinions on it)
You're Next (Tense home invasion film with a twist)
Pandorum (Somewhat scary, another space-thriller)
The Ruins (Gory and steadily ramps up the tension)
Vacancy (Definitely has you worried at some parts)
Identity (Also great and comes with a suprise ending)
The Divide (Very mixed reviews on this film. Expect to see a different type of horror later on that may leave you unsettled.)

And there are many others not included on this list but if you're having trouble finding something to watch..
