Get a provisional or use your driving license? Don't be the guy taking a passport to a club lol.

What if hypothetically you haven't lived in the UK for the past decade and so don't have a licence, and also again hypothetically your parents refuse to pay for your driving lessons this year? (Can I I mean "I" get a provisional without signing up for lessons, not for driving just a proof of age?)
All hypothetically speaking of course...

You don't have to provide evidence of signing up for driving lessons. Lots of people just get it for photo ID/proof of age so that they don't have to carry around their passport.

WHY would people vomit onto your plates/cutlery?! They don't. Buy nice ones if you want to! Yes, they might get dropped and smashed, but no more likely than this happening at home!

If you want to take nice things to decorate your room... Do! Your fellow flat mates are also human beings who most likely, will respect other people's belongings...

if it was allowed, it would have the benefit that I wouldn't have to spend any money myself, the downside is that I would probably never have a social life :smile:

Things that remind you of home you could take (helps if you get home sick). Photos are a good idea. Only take clothes you'll actually where as well.

There's a book on amazon called "A Guide To University By Actual Students" on amazon, it's £1 and it is number 1 in college & university and it goes through everything because it's written by third years. You can read the sample and the contents page if you go on there. It has really helped me even for this year :smile:

I'm seeing posts about that book everywhere! Did you write the bloody thing? I get you're trying to promote it but it's annoying as hell. Stop.

The best rule I'd say is first ask "How likely is it I will need this?", then if the answer is less than "definitely", ask "If I do need this, will I need it so urgently I won't have time to go to the shops and buy it?". A common mistake is just taking everything you "might" need then not using half of it - it's better to just take things that are 100% needed then buy things as you need them after arrival.
