It was filmed over 12 years and follows a family as they live their life. The mum marries an abusive alcoholic and then moves her family away from him despite the fact that her husband wanted to keep the kids even though he had his own that he didn't particularly like. I haven't seen it all so I can only tell you what I've seen so far :P

Although it sounds like my kinda film, i'm not a huge fan of those documentary / reality tv style films

It's not a documentary I don't think... well it doesn't seem like one and it's characters so it's not really a reality tv style.

Well either way i'd wouldn't pay to see it at the cinema, rent or watch on Freeview possibly
