CBSE India and GCSE

Hiya,
i just arrived from India to join my parents and I'm sixteen. I finished class tenth exams last year under CBSE in India and ive got all As. I applied to some sixth form schools here in Bristol but all the school are unsure about my grade's equivalence and whether I can pursue A levels. I know some people who have come from India after finishing class 10 and they have studied A levels and IBs in the uk. And frankly, I have got better grades than them and I believe that I can study A Levels. I looked at the GCSE syllabus and they are the same as I have learnt. What do you guys know about CBSE class tenth and GCSE? Can you please give me a piece of your mind???

Hi personally I do go on holiday every year to india to visit my relatives and I am fairly aware of the cbse class 10 syllabus so in my opinion I would say that they are quite similar and as you've said if you've looked at the syllabus and they're similar then I would think you're good for a level. And I've just finished my gcse's too

Hi

Could you please let me know how you were able to manage ? I'm in the same situation and just arrived. Schools are sending me back saying I don't have GCSE grade.

Sorry. I clicked on the post button. I'm clumsy.
My mum has sent her Indian qualifications to NARIC for analysis and they said that her CBSE class 10 subject grades are equivalent to GCSE level A*-C except English. So you might have to take an Additional English course. hope that helps.

I got lucky!!! I'm going to St. Brendan's Sixth-Form College in Bristol. They have many international students and thankfully they have a specialist who knows about the equivalence of international qualifications. Some colleges don't know much about international qualifications cuz they don't have much international students. Have you thought about sending our qualifications to NARIC for evaluation?

I did the IB in Australia and now due to circumstances, I have to shift to India. What is the procedure for shifting from IB to CBSE? What documents do I require? I got 4 in Maths HL, 5 in Physics HL, 7s in Business HL, Chemistry SL and German Ab Initio and 5 in English Language and Literature SL in my last term in grade 10. Overall in PCM, I got 6. I will be doing grade 11 in India. I would like to apply for IIT-JEE Examination.
SHOULD I REPEAT GRADE 10 IN INDIA?PLEASE HELP MEWrite AnswerAsked

Hiya, tbh, I personally don't think it'd be necessary for you to do grade 10 again.. I'd think that they'd think highly of an IB qualification. Make sure to show them your result certificates and a letter from your secondary school to show that you studies there. Hmmm, Maths in India is really hard (even though there are many who are not good at it too) because when I came to the UK to do my A Level (maths), I found that I have covered most of the things in grade 10 India (which shouldn't have been the case cuz A level is a higher qualification). So you might want to look at CBSE grade 10 maths before starting because I assume IIT-JEE is rather mathsy and sciencey... I can't say much else because I came to UK from India and don't know how it'd work the other way round. Plus, I haven't done IB so don't know much about that either. But I've heard that IB is a really good qualification to have so don't fret too much. I think you'll be fine. Good luck...

HI
I am Neha and I would like to join LONG ROAD SIXTH FORM COLLEGE IN CAMBRIGE ,but I really don't know the formalities needed for an admission there .Moreover, I am just in 9th grade and wanted an admission there for 11th .I really wanted to ensure to get an admission after my 10th.Not only that I don't really know the admission procedure.Kindly answer my inquires.

They are saying that prospective students with fewer than 7 GCSEs at Grade 4, or without a Grade 4 in either Maths or English, may be considered depending on their intended programme of study and career plan if they have an average grade of at least 4 in all subjects taken at GCSE level, and two or more grades higher than 4.

I REALLY DIDN'T GET THEM ..............

WHAT ALL ARE NEEDED TO BE SUBMITED?
HOW TO APPLY?
WHAT ARE THE GRADES AND TYPE OF EDUCATION NEEDED?
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

KINDLY REPLY

hi..I am going to appear for my GCSE in Mumbai, India and considering my A levels from UK. From your experience of education system at both places, will you advise moving to UK to do my A levels or should I pursue A levels in India and consider moving to UK post A levels, for graduation?Look forward to hearing from you..Sanya

Hi I've done my class 10 I India and I'm starting year 12 in UK is it correct cuz my classmates are an year elder than me
Hi, I have finished my 10th Standard Board exams in India (Tamilnadu State Board, SSC) SSLC and got 97% in the board exams and have applied for sixth form in UK grammar school and got an offer to enrol and earlier I have submitted mark sheet in June '2019 and school asked us to get the NARIC certificate before enrollment. My Parents applied for NARIC and they have graded D-G which is quite shocking for us and confused how we can get into any sixth form admission. can anyone guide or help us for the next steps
The same happened to me i did in hyderabad , india this year i applied to sixth form im in year 12 but ,i got same grades so i had no option but to hide it and send my normal results and making them understand.
The reason this happens is gcse students happen to study for 11 years and are 1 year elder than us .
But it is clear that we have gone rigorous training and have got harder things than them to do,.
I didnt get in a grammar but i fot in a good state school so i am happy at the moment.
And also i happen to be an year younger than my peers.
Hi dear, Iam having the same concern with my son too. He would be finishing his cbse grade 10 boards on March 2021 and planning to join me in the UK after that . But equivalence of cbse to GCSE is worrying me. Could you please tell me how you found out the solution for your problem so that it could help me solve mine.TIA..
