Ooh what topic :ahee:

Explore Steinbeck’s presentation of George and Lennie in the opening pages of “Of Mice and Men”

This is what I have so far:
In the novella “Of Mice and Men”, Steinbeck describes the landscape as a Pre-Lapsarian scene that has never been touched by man before, and is innocent and unspoilt. Phrases such as “golden foothills” and “twinkling” suggest to the reader that it is a perfect and idyllic landscape. The assonance “deep and green” when used to describe the Salinas River, suggests that the colour of the water is fresh, natural and fecund which helps to create a flow and adds a slight lyrical element to the phrases. Additionally, animal imagery is also present with many animals such as racoons and deer featuring the first few opening pages of the novella. This gives the reader a sense of animals living harmoniously together and marks the absence of influence and presence of man.

It's just a practice mini-essay to get us going into the writing. 800 words minimum
