hi
Im looking for universities that offer masters in marketing communications and advertising in either us or uk,most schools offer masters in marketing alone or advertising alone or marketing communications alone so its been tough trying to get the full combination.
so far I've found westminster university, kingston university and emerson college am not too sure about their rankings.I also found Medill northwestern university USA which is a really good school, however its the only top school that i have found and i need more options.
Any suggestions?? am not particular about the country, UK or US any would be fine.
thanks x

Westminster and Kingston aren't really good.

In most 'marketing' masters you should be able to specialise.

To give you some better advise, what's your background?
Don't look for degrees that specific, just look for degrees in marketing and see if they offer your specialisms.

Also remember that for many taught Masters courses, your dissertation will form a significant proportion of your final grade (mine was one-third). You could find a more general course in a department where staff share your specific interests. You could do general taught modules and then focus your dissertation on your chosen specialism.

My Masters course also allowed each person to focus coursework on our various specialisms, so there may be further opportunity to tailor a Masters to your own interests.

Stick to an accredited school, like the ones you have mentioned....Kingston and Westminster. However, the American schools that you have mentioned may offer the best ROI considering their reputation there. Again, that also depends on where you wish to work? what are your future plans?

Just like someone above said, it's kinda difficult to find a combination of what you're looking for. I've done my masters in marketing from the University of Leicester. Although we didn't have either of the modules that you're looking to specialize in, but if I'm not wrong, St. Andrews in Scotland does offer Marketing Communications as an optional module. I know this because St. A was one of my choices among the other universities. You could probably have a look at that if you're interested.

Sorry I didn't do Marketing but many taught Masters courses will follow the format I've outlined.

However I'd share reservations about Westminster, which has a generally poor reputation.

For PR, marketing isn't actually all that good. Journalism is a lot better, and then there are specialised PR programmes such as this one at Cardiff University:

Here's an experience post from one of last year's students, she's found a good job in the PR industry (I actually know her a little):

Good universities for marketing:

Strathclyde (I did my MSc International Marketing there a few years ago)
Birmingham
Aston
Lancaster

Hi MFE,

It's great to hear that you are looking at Kingston to study. I'm Chloe a Student Ambassador and am also looking to apply for MA programmes at the end of next year. The most important thing I would say is to attend open evenings and meet staff and students, they will give you a real feel of the place.

Although you have probably already looked I've added a link here to our MA programme. As you can see from our website The Marketing Communications and Advertising MA is accredited by Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). As a university we also have excellent links with industry.

I also advise that you come along to one of our open evenings, we have one coming up in November and you can register your interest now to receive all the information.

Please let me know if I can help or if you have any specific questions,

Chloe

Hi,

I've recently graduated with a BA in English Lit and History of Art from The University of York

I would like a marketing qualification but I don't know whether it is more beneficial to obtain a CIM diploma or a masters in marketing?

I have been offered a place to study the MSc in Marketing at Birkbeck, but I am also not sure of its reputation.

What do you think?

Have you looked into the employment prospects and salary you can expect working in this area??? Also, how is the job security?? Can your prospective uni refer you to several (like 6 to 10 graduates) who have earned this degree, and are earning a living with it?? I would certainly investigate those referrals thoroughly, before signing up for anything or parting with any money!! Hopefully, the graduates have been working for 5 to 10 years successfully, with unbroken employment. Best of luck!! Cheers.

This thread is 4 years old, so hopefully the OP is sorted by now.
Hopefully, but others may have the same problem. Cheers.
