I did an RS short course in year 9, if the rules hadn't changed I'd be able to combine it with the short course I'm doing this year. Aside from that all mine are this year.

I don't know what I want to do because I'm not great at specialising - there's so much I want to do! But Japanese studies at Cambridge does look quite fun.

That's sad ;D I chose medicine as my first choice career, because I'm capable at Science and I think it'll be interesting and worthwhile as a career. Also, it'll help me concentrate on school, as it requires excellent grades for good uni's (7A*'s Gcse and 400+ Ucas points for Birmingham). Dentistry is my second choice, as I want kids to be scared of me... Jk jk but seriously, its short hours and good pay; plus I can see myself doing it. I'd also consider a maths related field, as its my best subject ;D
Are you good at everything, to the point where weaknesses are pretty much non existent?

I did want to do medicine but I decided I want committed enough. Since then I guess I've just played around with thoughts of what I could do. At one point I was just like 'Screw it, I'm gonna be a housewife!' but I figured that was a waste of my abilities.

And yes, I suppose I am. Quite possibly the most annoying pieces of advice I've been given are 'do what you enjoy' and 'do what you're good at' because I enjoy so many things and I'm pretty much equally able in all of them.

Apparently I'm a multipotentialite. I found a website about it and it was like coming home, but unfortunately it doesn't offer any help on getting through school, only about jobs etc.

They said architecture or accountancy would suit me, so I picked art to improve drawing skills, but now I'm thinking more a science field.

To be fair, I'm good at everything apart from languages.. But Maths stands out ;D Been good at maths from a young age, and I've been sent on competitions(till I told my school I didn't want to go). Also, I get invited to several maths events from the Ri, etc.. But I don't go anyways. Not trying to brag, but this is how I found out what I'm good at. ^_^
Not interested in a maths career tho, and I've developed an interest for science after I went to Queen Mary's on an introductory course for 'abled students'. I also have a free interview, so yeeah

Fair enough that you found what you want to do - your dedication is awesome :-)

Haha fair enough, my music department does that too lol
Hey people.

We're currently trying to think of ways to help TSRians who are struggling at school/Sixth Form because of stress related things or worse.

If anyone on here has ever had issues with stress (or worse) at school and would like to help me and TSR out with something, please PM me. It doesn't matter how big or small you think your problem is/was, it will be just as important. I'll give details in the PM.

Thanks :hat2:

That's a great idea, I hope people are open and brave enough to come forward. We need to start looking after children's and young adult's mental health - it has such a negative effect on their abilities in education. If I can help let me know
When are the mock exams?

That's so me! I want to do medicine as well and there have been times when I've wanted to just give up and say I'll be a housewife. But it really is a waste some people wish they were good enough at science, and I also want to show people that I can do something challenging like medicine.

Continuously doing tests... We have five lessons today and most days three or four of them were tests this week... -.-

You?

Ouch. Painful? :frown: Hope next week is better. You know how there are 'up' weeks and 'down' weeks? Yeah, this week was actually an 'up' week surprisingly. Didn't have that much in terms of homework :O and also had an 'enlightenment' as to what I might do in the future so goody goody!!!

I'm the opposite of you - I need something scientific to balance out all the humanities I want to take but I don't have enough options! These are the ones I'm considering (in no particular order):
Chinese
Philosophy and Ethics
Psychology
English Language
Music
Politics
Physics

Yeah... There's a lot I enjoy. But I just can't decide! The fact that I don't know what I want to do doesn't help either. Ah well. I'll decide eventually...

Interesting  Unfortunately they don't offer psychology at my school :frown: It looks quite interesting tbh.
I was in the same position as you but this week, got a clearer idea of what I might do due to a sixth form taster day. It was really useful. *nod*. But still wondering if i am making the right choices. Don't want to pick things that i won't enjoy and then have to endure them for the entire sixth form. ._. I think i'm almost at the convinced stage though. Hope you get there too :P Good luck with choosing btw.

Huger games- yes. I'm mainstream  and it's not a bad book overall. The concept is interesting.
Cherub- no. Don't think i will be reading it though...

Have you read these? What did you think (if you did)?
