Good luck with your studies and applications. Have you just started your final year? It's hard to know what to do, I think I'm going to apply for grad schemes and MAs. I just did the E&Y online tests this morning. I'm saving some of the other schemes until I get a bit more practise at the tests, but I'm conscious of closing dates. But equally, I'm dreaming of a Masters at UCL. What will be will be I guess. Hows i going for you?

Yeah I'm final year. Sound, got your options open I suppose. Agreed on the closing dates, big 4 especially open very early and it becomes more difficult the longer you leave it.

It's going decent for me, I'm an accounting student. On my placement j got assessment days at some decent size companies (GSK was main one) and Interviews at Nissan/NHS etc. Didn't touch the big 4 though, flat rejections before I got close. Applied to them as my first applications which was naive, so hopefully should be in better stead than I was last year. Was considering a masters but it's not really helpful to me, just wanna get my ACA qualification as quickly as possible.

Yeah. I won't be applying to any of the other Big 4. If I'm honest I'm not really interested in finance/accounting, I'm a Political Science student, so I'm just using it as practise as generally the big four have the hardest application process. Yeah I fancy a crack at GSK, looks a good company to work for, I've got my eye on the Communications grad scheme. Where did you do your placement?

It can be challenging to know what to do. Like a lot of these companies will ask you why you want to work for them, and its like...not as if ever since I was a baby I've wanted to work for X company, or in X profession, at the end of the day, it's a well paying job, with prestige and good opportunities for advancement, and thats why many apply to them. In truth I think my passion is government/policy, so thats what I'll spend most time working towards. I feel an MA would significantly benefit me, especially if I could get into UCL, but we'll have to see. I fancy a crack at LSE as well, but it's 20k for MA, double the price of UCL, so forget that.

You're a clever girl aren't you Lyrical Prizzle. The word Eboracum was of course, the name for the city of York during Roman times. York's a lovely city, very romantic actually. The city is an ideal place for Eboracum to take lucky females on romantic walks along the ancient city walls. But as to study?...as the CIA said in their first tweet, "I can neither confirm nor deny"

Ah yes. The gentleman made a good point, as it is hard to put ones finger on certain "evidence", and I was wary of university snobbery. But I just think it's a reasonable and logical starting point to argue that the "better" the university, the "harder" it is to get so or so grade. And if the gentleman acknowledged that it would be harder to get X grade at Oxford than say a university ranked 20th, I couldn't see why he wouldn't acknowledge why it would harder to get X grade at a university ranked 20th, than one ranked 80th. But it's a very banal topic. I could be mean, and say he's just bitter than his degree is from an ex-poly, but I'm a reasonable and decent human being, so I won't.

I wonder LP, if Manchester United can win at the Emirates stadium. I believe...maybe.

You're a little charmer aren't you? Do you speak the way you type irl?

Oh I see, University debates on TSR...been there done that and I've learnt my lesson you can never get a word in with these people it's always Oxford and Cambridge this or Russel Universities that  It's actually come to the point where I just read what people have to say rather than get involved, dangerous territory.

Yeah why not? Wondering if we should even turn up and abandon the match. I'm still that vex with the club.

I see myself as the George Clooney of TSR; irresistible to any woman. I think most folk probably vary their writing style. So I guess I'm not unique in saying that my forum writing style, my essay writing style and my speak are all varied.

Exactly. I mean I'll sound like a staunch socialist saying this (I'm really not I'm the opposite) but one of the problems of capitalism I learned in a seminar this week, is that it conditions us to only see our achievements or successes in comparison to other peoples, rather than in their own right. So we're naturally conditioned to come on TSR and to argue about it, in order to boost our own self-worth. But in reality, it's all nonsense. Banter aside, people can only ever know the true quality of a higher education establishment if they have studied at it. Anything else is just based on what they perceive the reputation to be like, or what their friend said, or what 1 out of many league tables said. Not credible criteria, as I'm sure you'll agree. But people are defensive, it can be hard not to be drawn into it.

And of course, the banter is never ending. You get people taking the mick out of polys, then you get RG kids thinking anything non-RG is awful, then you get LSE kids who think it's them and Oxbridge (we saw the leaflets from the Rugby club that said KCL was awful), then theres the people that only think Ox and Cam are worth going to, and you wonder where it ends. When these kids get into the private sector and have to photocopy some files for a man that went to a state school and a "mid card uni" perhaps that will finally be the moment that their head gets removed from their own backsides.

Of all the cars in the world, why the SLK? I assume you got a hefty budget. BTW agree on Everytime.
