10 months is too much. My friend's stepdad only 14 months for molesting her and he only spent 7 months in jail. Chances are this guy might be released early anyway.

Very harsh, just being a lad.. no need to waste a cell on him. If a girl slapped me round the face with her boob I'd feel very special and honured tbh. Dont get women atall.

Boobs are a lot nicer than penises though.

Eh they're pretty much bags of fat/muscle tissue for the most part....against the male sexual organ made up of columns of different tissues....neither are really remarkable.

...that said as a straight male I strongly agree with your statement....beeewbs.
I swear when I read this headline in the Metro I almost died from laughter.

Because it's completely disproportionate. Someone doesn't deserve to have their entire future prospects ruined for such a minor thing.

If someone did something similar to me, I'd ignore it, not press charges.

Also took a video of it on a phone which makes it worse... the victim is now blighted, every time a prospective boyfriend or employer googles her name they'll get a video of her being slapped in the face by some idiot's penis.

sure you'd laugh that off?

The girl was asleep...and he hit her with his penis. How can you justify that? It is not normal behaviour, it's assault. Why would anybody even think about doing that?! The courts obviously agreed with this.

To those saying, "If a girl hit a guy with her boob..." or "if he did it to a guy...", the guy has every right to press charges against him/her...because it's assault.
Also, to those blaming the girl for 'ruining his life'...seriously? Please re-evaluate your lives.

Hopefully, this will make these pathetic, immature 'lads' think twice before they act.

I'd definitely be annoyed if a video with my name was put on the internet, but I do think that's a bit of a separate issue.

That's not what the guy was jailed for. (And why are you so sure there's a video of her linked to her name on the internet? I didn't read that anywhere, although it's possible I missed it.)

How would you feel if someone slapped you in the face with their penis? You're so concerned about his life, what about the woman who was assaulted?

If he is so worried about his future career, he should have thought about it before he did that. Disgusting. That isn't a 'prank'. People need to stop throwing that word around like its a 'get out of trouble-card' that makes up for assaulting someone. Would he even serve the entire 9 months in jail? Whatever, I think it's appropriate. Should give him enough time to think about life and penis-related things.

I'd be pissed but wouldn't want the person to serve jail time! That would ruin his life, ruin his career for what a small mistake?

Well it was videoed and shared - that's how he was caught.

from her point of view the probability of her getting a video on the internet with a dick slapping in her face was zero before she was sexually assaulted by this guy and now it's more than zero.

you can, of course make and keep perfect digital copies of a video easily - it's not like the judge can order the negatives be destroyed... shes got to get on with her life knowing that there's a chance that video could re-emerge at any time to publicly humiliate her again.

It was sexual assault, he got what he deserved :dontknow:

Interesting path to his desired career (Criminology BSc > Solicitor) I must say

Solicitors are not really intelligent.

There would be consent for the purposes of medical examination and general health from the next of kin or an appointed representative if there was no next of kin.

So what if the next of kin refuse permission to wash the persons genitals and theyre in a coma for ten years. Presumably it'd go to court. I mean the guys nob end would end up like a tennis ball. They'd have to install extra ventilation.

Tho I suppose they could trim the cheese without actually touching the penis... Tho of course that not being sexual assault would also have to apply to this case.

maybe you would feel good...but if someone wants he can press charges against the woman...

slapping anyone with anything is offensive...and this victim decided to press charges against that man....and it was proven in court that he was guilty of slapping the woman...

I would be offended if a woman were to slap me, whether with her b00bs, @ss or hands or what ever...a slap is a slap.

plus this is more than just a slap, cuz its with a penis...which is sexual, so it is not just assault, it's sexual assault...

A lot less bad than if somebody robbed / attacked me.
I think it's quite apt considering he was studying Criminology, not that it's ever an excuse if you were only studying Chemistry or something, but he must be well aware of criminal law and you'd think he would be a bit more careful with his criminal record if he wanted a legal career.

I hate that anyone would put this kind of thing down to a 'prank' - she was asleep, not in a 'conscious' state, he might only have whacked her with it this time but what would he do in the future? Not only was she assaulted and defenceless, they also filmed it which is a complete invasion of her privacy? I find it quite horrifying tbh and this whole 'oh well boys will be boys!!!' attitude makes me sick
He made a mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his life. When he applies for jobs he will have to disclose his crime and will have to explain exactly what he did. Rather embarrassing.
What he did does not illustrate skills useful in a job, except perhaps in the porn industry.
I think the actual sentence is very harsh when compared to the sort of sentences people get for what I would consider to be much worse crimes... he did assault her and so he should be punished but it was a prank rather than a malicious act so he's hardly likely to need major reforming, being arrested was probably all the wake up call he needed to realise what he did was wrong
The sentence is incredibly harsh - there's no denying that. Sounds like a bit of a cock-up by all involved.
