I've been prescribed codeine for pain management but it doesn't work at all.
It just makes me feel kind of drunk.

Why is it not working?

What's the dosage?

What's the dosage?

30mg every 4 hours
Go back to your doctor

What sort of pain is it?
By drunk I assume you mean nauseous not high.
Go back to your doctor and report your problems.

Not sure what you want TSR do about your pain issues.

What are you taking the pain for even?

knee pain
How long have you been taking it for?

Pain killers won't completely remove the pain.

Never 'asked' TSR to do anything. Just looking for potential explanations.

A few days so I doubt tolerance will have built up.

Understand that but they don't work at all!

30mg is nothing come back when you're 60 and I doubt it's making you drunk. Just go back to your doctor.

I wasn't thinking about tolerance. More that you have to wait for a week or so for them to starting working. I know I have to do that with mine.
Are you taking paracetamol along side it?

No. Paracetamol never did anything for the pain.

You can take both together, which may help.

If you take it regularly (1g, max 4g daily) it will work in conjunction with the codeine.
Have you tried ibuprofen or aspirin for it?
you might have a genetic incomptibility with codeine... some people don't produce the right enzyme to activate it, so it won't work...

either that, or your knee pain is psychological/neurological. in which case, standard pain killers won't necessarily touch it.

30/500 Co-dydramol and/or benzos would likely work.

The salient point in this thread however is likely that you've become overly tolerant, not that you need more.

Yes, they don't do anything. This is a well documented situation with the type of pain I am suffering.
