Hi Aneesah, our next applicant visit day is on Wednesday 3rd December. You can register here to book your place. I am afraid that we do not offer any travel bursaries for attending our visit days. Hopefully see you at a visit day soon!
has anyone received any offers for their healthcare science course yet

I'm still waiting on an offer (only applied on Tuesday but already have 4/5 conditional offers!) from Swansea but I really liked it on the (soaking wet) open day in October!

I'm applying for Economics and I'm just wondering if anyone else is applying for anything else in management or engineering, as we'll be on the new campus that's about 4 miles from the main campus, and what people think about Swansea having 2 campuses

I live in Swansea and the new campus looks gorgeous - don't worry about the 4 mile difference the bus service is pretty good in and around Swansea! I'd be happy to help any location-related questions

Thank you so much! I was just wondering how far it is into the city from the new campus, and how late do the buses run?

I got an offer of ABB today, so I'm just deciding on my firm choice, for which swansea is a strong contender!

Buses aren't active yet because the campus isn't quite finished but I shouldn't imagine it'd take longer than 5 minutes on a bus to get to the city centre!

Congrats! Good luck on deciding

P.S (If you haven't heard of it before!)
A good way to check bus routes throughout Wales [durarion, times and fares] is with http://www.traveline-cymru.info/
Received offers for both courses I applied at Swansea for! Firming one of them for sure. Does anyone know if Swansea allow for minor under-achievements in terms of results? So for example, my off is BBB. If I got ABC, would they allow me to get in, decline, or does it depend?
Hey guys!
I am currently in my first year at Swansea so feel free to ask any questions :smile:x

Construction update at Swansea University's new Campus site. Swansea University’s £450m beach-front second campus which is currently under construction on a 65-acre former BP site will create around 12,000 permanent jobs by 2020.
That is the prediction of the university’s vice-chancellor Professor Richard B Davies who added at the “Bay Campus” construction site today: (fri)”It will transform this region from the heavy industry economy of yesterday to the hi-tech, knowledge economy of tomorrow”.
It is estimated the development of the new campus on a 65-acre site on the Neath side of the border with Swansea off Fabian Way, the main eastern approach road to Swansea, will pump £3bn into the Swansea Bay economy over the next decade.
It overlooks Mumbles Head and the coasts of Neath, Port Talbot and Porthcawl with Devon and Cornwall in the distance.
It will house almost 900 student room and will feature an “innovation hub”, a manufacturing centre, a materials research laboratory, a great hall and library, shops, cafes and bars.
University officials along with representatives of site developer St Modwen and various building contractors gathered at the site this morning to give an update on the ambitious science and innovation centred project which has already secured research and development partnerships with major manufacturers including engineering giant Rolls Royce, aerospace specialists BAE Systems and glass firm Pilkington.
Rupert Joseland, South Wales Regional Director of St Modwen, said the construction work was on schedule and would be ready for staff and the new intake of students by September 2015.

An artist's impression of Swansea University's Science and Innovation Campus He added: “Over the past six months we have made significant progress, with the manufacturing of the new SMaRT building (manufacturing testing facility) complete and framing of the £32m Engineering Manufacturing Centre close to completion.
“We are also underway with construction on the new student accommodation, which when finished will comprise 899 new rooms built around internal courtyards with social spaces.”
Professor Davies said he expected 6,000 permanent jobs to be created when the university was up and running and he said the figure could grow to 11,000 or 12,000 by 2020.
And he added: “That is without the extra jobs and investment that could come from involvement at the site from private companies.
“The campus will have the distinction of being one of the few global universities with direct access onto a beach and its own seafront promenade when complete.
“The Campus will provide academic, student accommodation and research space, the latter being in a series of agreements with international and national companies.”
St Modwen is developing the Bay Campus with building contractor, VINCI Construction UK and Swansea University’s framework contractor Leadbitter, a Bouygues company. Working on the Singleton Campus, since 2010, Leadbitter has been contracted to construct the Innovation Hub and the ESRI (Energy Safety Research Institute) Building on the Bay Campus. Foundation work commenced earlier this month.

I went to summer school at Swansea and I really enjoyed it :3
for those of you querying the new bay campus I attach an update from the wales online. this shows how the new campus will look and what facilities it will have. It is on the eastern edge of Swansea about 1 mile off junction 42 of the M4. It is about 2 miles from the city centre. The idea is there will be a bus link between the 2 campus. Currently the buses run every 12 minutes between the uni and village daytime 20 minutes frequency evenings and ever 30 minutes on sundays during term times. I assume a similar timetable will apply here but this will not be known until september
Got an offer of BBB today to do law, so happy

What's the nightlife like?

Is it easy settling in?

What are the halls like?

Do you come from Wales or another part of the UK?
I don't know whether you want me to answer this as I am from the area but not a student in Swansea.
Swansea has a legendary nightlife street called Wind Street with more bars than you can care to imagine. If you read the Swansea uni site there are loads of previous students commenting on this. I cannot comment on the halls and I not certain anyone can as they are currently building 900 new rooms on the new bay campus and closing the older part of the village. The newer accommodation in the village will stay for this year but the rest is going to be demolished for housing see my comments on another thread. Swansea is a very friendly city but like every city has its poor areas and the campus is in a huge park across the road from the beach. The new campus 4 miles away has direct seafront access. I have met numerous students in Swansea including from usa brazil mexico and china and all speak very highly of the uni and the area. The reason they have built in the new campus is that they wouldnt get planning permission to extend into the park

I'm still waiting to hear back from three universities, Swansea. I sent my application on the 30th October and got a confirmation but that's it. A lot of others doing Adult Nursing have been offered interviews and such. I'm a bit worried to say the least. Anyone else still waiting? :s-smilie:
