Trying to budget for university AKA 'how much will I save by stealing milk and sugar from the university coffee shop and toilet paper rolls from the toilets?'
Tried to price up me at imperial and just wasn't happening.... my grant would have been 8,200/year and you need around 2500/month to live in knightsbridge. was gutted

I know mate I seriously don't see how I'm going to manage if I get into the place I applied to in Camden. I'm planning to work relentlessly over summer (I'll literally do every day. I've practically done that for the past two years with work experience so it shouldn't be too hard) and reckon that at a push I might be able to scrape about £5000 in three months. That will be a significant contribution but honestly I don't know how I'm going to make it through the year

Dude, I really don't mean this to sound like I'm being blunt its a genuine question, but why did you apply for somewhere you can't afford?

Uhhh, well, not that it's any of your business but the course I applied to has very few establishments to choose from anyway, and it so happens that the one in London is the oldest and largest and specialises in the course that I want to study.
Mmm yes looking forward to having Lidl spaghetti rings for every meal Moneysavingexpert is good yeah. Check out Save The Student too, there's some great stuff on there

....... you didn't have to answer me if you thought that was such a big deal to answer

You acknowledged yourself that you thought it was a tactless thing to ask . Either way I have an offer for my backup so if by later in the year it's apparent that London just isn't feasible then I'll go somewhere cheaper. It's my problem, not yours, chill.

No, I acknowledged it could come across as being tactless and so thats why I brought it up. There's really no need to be hostile. I was asking to try and offer advice or help of some kind, not aggravate or take the piss out of you? I'm sorry you took it that way
I don't know if you're on Facebook but Save The Student put up a thing every few days with a load of deals on. They're often not really my thing (it's frequently clothing and such that isn't my style ) but they're worth checking out every now and again

You could live off instant noodles for a few years?
