Why could we not do today what Edward Jenner did with his vaccine?

A bit stuck on this question, would appreciate any help :smile:
Edward Jenner rubbed pus on a child without knowing the risks and consent from his mother. Whereas nowadays, all vaccines are regulated and consent is needed from parents if a child is having a vaccination.

Because what he did was incredibly dangerous, unscientific, and inhumane.
