Edexcel FP3 June 2015 - Official Thread

I haven't seen any FP3 threads so I thought I'd just start one.

How's revision going? How are people doing with past papers? Which topics are you finding most difficult? Feel free to post any questions, and hopefully someone will be able to help.

Graham of Edexcel has only compiled them for C1-4, S1, M1 and FP1.

I have attached a file of old P4-6 questions that are appropriate for FP3 and their mark schemes. Since this file was compiled by Graham 6 years ago, I feel that it is OK to make it available.

Don't you need Vectors for Matrices?

Well yes, I did C4 last year so there was no new vector content in the matrices module.

I'm struggling with a lot of FP3.
The most difficult topic for me so far is finding a locus of a point in the further coordinate systems chapter. It just doesn't seem to follow a pattern for me. I've read through the examples and I follow the working out, which seems logical, but I just can't seem to work out how to do the questions myself.
Any help with this would be very much appreciated.
Is it just me or are the questions in mixed exercise 2G (hyperbolas/ellipses) quite challenging (the first 2 at least) ?

TO get A* in maths:
do you need 90% avg across C3/C4 and 80% avg across the remaining 4 units?

To get an A* in further maths:
do you need 90% avg across 3 A2 units and 80% across all the units (or just the AS ones)?

This one, i.e. a total of 480 UMS

Yeah. 270/300 from your top 3 A2 modules and 480/600 overall.
