Stating my case, with conviction, and challenging the stated opinions of others, is not forcing anything/anyone

What makes you think that? The quoted figures are drawn from reasonably robust study survey statistical data e.g. one sample of 6,000 methinks

A third of one percent my dear e.g. 1 woman in every 300 is a sex worker

It would be hypocritical e.g. for someone to say that something is moral but yet find it uncomfortable for someone they are closely connected with to engage in that something, partly on moral grounds

I haven't accused anyone of lying

You said you’d be ok with it. In English this generally means you would find it ok = acceptable. If something bothers us then we would say we are not ok with it. Perhaps your intended meaning got lost in translation :dontknow:

Agreed, but that’s just an excuse for incorrect English really. We all make mistakes, don’t worry

Would you respect me more, as a man, and your adversary, if I moved easily, and hastily/artificially hid away my sense of self assurance? You just said yourself, one should encourage people to express themselves naturally, so I would expect you to be consistent and not attempt to stifle my massive ego :smug:

Sweetie, with all due respect you’re a pussycat, so you may be as harsh as you like, it will sway me not :colonhash:

Liberalism is comforting, but just like a comfort blanket, sooner or later one has to wake up, grow up, toughen up, and leave it behind when you venture out into the big, ugly world

What, and you are? I know/know of plenty married people, and enough about society, to know that yours is a false dichotomy; so, probably, do you - in which case you're just being intellectually dishonest (perhaps even with yourself)

Spoiler

Hahaha, ok, I'll stop. Oh, and I appreciate you leaving my mispellings or strange phrase order out, made it easier to stay to the point (and, well, it's nice overall)

btw, should I take that 'pussycat' as an insult? I'm sincerely asking this, did I do something wrong to make my opinions not seem serious enough? And you should be how you like it, I'm not a presence in your life strong enough to make it important. I don't judge what you're saying based on that, it's just personal preference.

oh, I see what you did there, you went to 'respect' well, yup, surely. Don't be swayed, just accept~ Staying true to your opinions is nice.

edit: I dropped the 'ok' part, I agree with you. I wasn't careful when I read it. Losing meaning is very possible, especially with this, in my case.

I can't remember what started this banter. Which of my comments are you taking issue with? My comment that marriage is a contract or my comment that the issues surrounding prostitution can also apply to unhappily married people, or some other comment?

So you think that...

.. and ..

.. i.e. you know "a lot" of the people you say are forcing women to be prostitutes, but you're not prepared to do anything about it?

And it's the clients who are immoral?!?

yeah the clients are lowlives.

You're welcome, I guess. There’s nothing to be gained from trying to catch people out on their English, so long as we all understand each other - if I correct people then it is typically constructive criticism :h:

No, just a statement of fact. You’re a sweet young thing and I’m a hard old bastard, hence, relatively speaking, you’re a pussycat :emog:

Judge away, I don’t mind, but be careful of ‘playing the man not the ball’ as we say best to focus on content, rather than style, in discussion

You were trying to make prostitution seem relatively free next to an unhappy marriage. This is a false dichotomy for a few reasons:

1) Women are no longer nearly as trapped in such marriages as once was the case (hence my Victorian pun);

2) There’s far more to life than those two relatively extreme scenarios, so insinuating that it is 'the better of two evils' is a pretty redundant point

3) 'Better the devil you know', in some cases

yup, that sounds good. I liked it when you said 'dogmatic', for example, it was literally the first time I used the word and it's really helpful to know.

I see. I like cats so I'm good with that~ I don't know how old you are but you're considerate enough, I was able to have a conversation with you so you didn't look down on me (I didn't feel you were). I'm cool with age. Now I'm just imagining me as a cat scraching and it's funny. Nope, nope, not judging. Just analysing, that I like :colondollar:

Well, from your moral position, you must be looking up at them.
I think it's fine as long as the woman isnt being forced, I think it's a good thing a lot of guys are looking for ONS buying drinks w/e theres a lot of lies hiring a hooker is straight up, you're paying for sex and then to leave, if a guys cheating on his gf/wife with hookers then it's immoral or a girls prostituting herself behind her bf/husbands back thats immoral.
Exploitation of women should be stopped. Males who use prostitutes need to be locked up in every country.

Lol. I only talked about me, in the place of the daughter. Cannot recall any refference to the mother, or other women. Mind showing those to me? I specifically didn't adress them because it wasn't asked and also because I knew that something like this could happen. I hate it to the core when people jump to conclusions just because they can and don't care enough to pay attention before they speak, so I couldn't wait more to shut the door in the face of someone like this. No, you have no argument. Two different sides, two different views, you can't lump them toghether bcause 'can'

It doesn't matter, you said you would be okay with it even if it was your mother doing it because she had to( for financial reasons) and that you wouldn't try to get emotionally caught up.
Are women who pay for sex as pathetic as men who pay for sex?

Are Male prostitutes who sell themselves to older, rich and lonely women being exploited?

None of the above. You refer to women in general. That is not a good way to view the issue. Each person is an individual and has a unique set of constraints. The issue had to be approached from the point of view of an individual. Women may be x y or z but One woman has her own morality.
Even considering the general case the law has changed to make divorce easier but many consider that to be the nuclear option. A last resort.
What I'm really saying is that marriage is a contract of value but the term and conditions differ somewhat from prostitution. Marriage is a form of prostitution, an exchange of value for the right to screw. Until recently the law supported this by decreeing that there could be no rape within marriage.

We aim to please :borat:

Me too :h:

It says on my profile :holmes:

Well, it's true to say that I don't look down on you any more than I look down on other young mortals :mmm:

Spoiler

Me too, although I always have to try to remember what I was like in my younger years (a bit of an idiot, in truth), and not set quite such high standards for other young people!

The key to many a girl's heart..

Good girl. Gently disarmed, how cute :console:

I looked, so 30. Tbf, at first I thought you were maybe in your 20s, then older after your texts and now I've come back to the beginning, kinda, 30 doesn't feel that far. Cool, many more years ahead! (btw, while I was there searching, cuz I didn't see the age right away, I saw that you are a taurus. I am too. Just that, moving on now~)

I'm kinda squinting, but hmm, ok, don't look down, look up, that works too haha. Well, yup, I'm not such a big fighter, unless I'm specially irked *evil* Sure I do, there are many wrong things with prostitution, but I don't think morality comes into play for all cases. Things can also go right. There doesn't have to be am absolute. So yes, I agree with that, for me.

What about women who pay for sex.

Or is that empowerment?

Seems no matter what the topic, or the initial pitch of my rhetoric, I invariably end up reverting to type. Apparently I have a problem

well, I have to say you basically won that debate on charm

Why is paying for sex any different from paying for a haircut, or your toe nails painted or a colonic irrigation. Nobody does those things because they like you or like doing it. It is a job.
All you have to remember is all the rich rockstars, sport stars, movie stars, rich businessmen...all the people that can get women easily, all shag escorts.

These escorts that are charging £500-£1000 a night are basically being shagged by white middle class married men...their wives stop providing them with regular sex, they get fat etc etc

Basically the people that shag escorts are your dream husbands.

If women actually knew what men got up to they would be appalled. Watch Wolf of wall street and you will see what male mentality is. Footballers have that mentality, movie stars do, rock stars do(all these are from different backgrounds)...all men do, it is just they have the money to go through with the lifestyle.

if this guy

cheats on this lady

with this lady, who he paid for

What chance do you have? You will have to marry so far down and have a husband with really low testosterone levels who doesn't excite you.

For someone who is friends with middle class white guys who are married with children with top masters degrees and 50-80k jobs and know exactly what they get up to. I could go on explaining further...but most will just want to be in denial over it.

The market for paid sex is not as big as you suggest.
The vast majority of men do not pay for sex, if they did there would be far more prostitutes than there are.

Which brings us back to the start of the circle. Depends what you define as payment. Comfortable home and security, with clothes, meals , holidays etc in exchange for a contract of marriage. The ultimate proof is on divorce. Someone gotta pay. Game over. We all pay or get paid.

I think it's immoral, yes. You are monetizing sex, and thus dehumanising the people involved.
