4th of 8 weeks; my mate at my badminton club said he knows a guy who was rejected 2 days into the 8 week email so i am assuming the longer you are in the 8 weeks, the better???

That's definitely not a comforting thought. I wonder what percentage of people that get an 8 week email end up receiving an offer. Is it around 30% ish?

I submitted my application on the first of October, so it took them the full 8 weeks.
