Bleeding from the bottom

I know it's gross but I have no clue what to do. It's not bleeding a lot but like slowly seeping, continuously just like some wounds do. Will it stop on its own? I woke up about an hour ago, and my underwear was just really stained with blood it makes me panic a bit.
Do you know what caused it to bleed in the first place? Could it be piles, or have you injured yourself?

I have no idea. I don't think I've injured myself in any way. I had a few drinks and valium, and I was fine before I went to bed, when I woke up, it was already like this. I don't know about piles, never had that problem but I've checked and didn't see any. I've checked other symptoms online and it mentioned (in most cases) blood on toilet paper after using the toilet but in my case it was different so I really don't know. It looks like it's stopped now, though so I'm really glad, still a bit unsettled.

You should consult with your GP about this because if it stopped that doesn't mean it would not happen again. And don't think it's embarrassing because better to be safe than sorry
What colour was it? Generally speaking red blood is less of a worry because it's fresh and more likely to be from piles or a tear in the anus. Still worth seeing a gp to check it out though. If it's darker in colour it's older blood that has come from further up the digestive system and could be a symptom of some cancers so should be checked out ASAP.

It wasn't bright-red kind of color but it wasn't very dark, like brown, either so hopefully it's nothing bad, it didn't happen again. My stomach has been hurting a bit lately but I'm too young to have cancer so maybe it's to do with food. Thanks for replies everyone.

I suffer from ibs and went through this last year. I know it is extremely scary to look and see a blood bath in the toilet but my specialist assured me that it's just a high up tear. He said it will ease up on its own, but warm baths can help.

Still go and see your gp as my words of advice probably won't comfort you as much as his but I am sure, it's nothing to worry about despite what it looks like.

Continuously bleeding? Is it still bleeding now?

As someone said, if it's post office red then it's bleeding near the end of the digestion system. If it's dark it's happening somewhere further up.

You're not too young to have cancer, but it's not likely that you'll have it. If it stops bleeding and doesn't happen again then I wouldn't worry. If it doesn't stop, or happens again then go and see a GP. They'll just ask you a few questions.

could be ulcerative colitis or crohns

It's fine now, hasn't happened again, and hope it stays that way, thanks so much for support/advice.
