When we add cyclohexane to a solution does it detect the halogen ions (e.g. bromide, chloride, iodide) or does it detect the halogen as an atom (e.g. bromine, chlorine, iodine).
because for my answer I would get two different results, bromine water is added to aq sodium chloride, so in cyclohexane either the bromine is detected so orange, or the chloride is detected so pale green?
Thanks I just want to make sure

The ions would give no colour (if they dissolved)
