What was the answer of the question that asks about the year when something increases over 1 million? Which year was it?

The right answer is year 2029, since N is 14 years and you count in year 2016 as number 1 2016+13 years = 2029

The year 2030 is an expected mistake many students fall for it, there were many similar questions in the past papers
No the answer is 2029 since you add 14 years year 2016 was the first year

I'm not quite sure you're right. Firstly, you can't count 2016 for this part of the question (but when finding the sum in the next part you use n=11 counting 2016). I'm saying this because the value 275000 increases by a ratio of 1.1 starting from 2017.

Illustrating this fact:
2017 - 275000 * 1.1
2018 - 275000 * 1.1^2
2019 - 275000 * 1.1^3
2020 - 275000 * 1.1^4
2021 - 275000 * 1.1^5
2022 - 275000 * 1.1^6
2023 - 275000 * 1.1^7

2024 - 275000 * 1.1^8
2025 - 275000 * 1.1^9
2026 - 275000 * 1.1^10
2027 - 275000 * 1.1^11
2028 - 275000 * 1.1^12
2029 - 275000 * 1.1^13
2030 - 275000 * 1.1^14

As you see in 2030, 275000 increases by a factor of 1.1^14 and it is the first year when the value becomes > 1000000.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Look at my attachment. The question is the same as the one in the exam yesterday.

how do you think u guys did on this paper?!? i found it very difficult. Even harder compared to last may/june paper. By the way, did u guys skip any questions? i hope they lower the grade boundary significantly....
For me the paper was relatively easy if not slightly challenging. To be honest, May 2014 paper remains the hardest Edexcel math past-paper I've done. I feel that yesterday's exam was on par with the Jan 2014 C12 paper in terms of difficulty.

Initially I felt like I wouldn't be able to complete the paper, but in the end I completed it and managed to check my answers as well  I think an 'A' will require between 90 and 100 marks out of 125. But that's just my opinion.

Did anyone get the unofficial mark scheme?
If one of you remembers all of the questions (likely not :P) post them on this thread and I can make an unofficial mark scheme.

You are right as 2016 has common ratio of power zero so it is 2030

in the kite question did anyone get the angle 0.48sth in radians , and kite area of 48.sth

Yes the area of the kite was around 48 to 49. Can't entirely remember, but I think this was my calculation :

2(0.5*10*12*sin0.421) = 49 cm^2
