Islamism is not confined to ISIS. There are a whole mirade of groups and more importantly you'd need to stem their future tide of support, that would potentially involve sacrifice.

My preference (though most consider it extreme) is simply to occupy these nations, enforce a western constitution, do away with their armies (retain a large domestic police force instead) and basically rule them in a way that most would consider civil. I'm told that's imperialism though and that's out of fashion right now (the occupying force would be the west, not just the UK).

Middle eastern countries haven't historically taken occupation well. Invasion would just increase support for Islamists.

It's far easier to kill an Ant when it's above ground than underground - Encouraging the sympathiers to actively support terrorism makes them easier targets. The general point behind the occupation anyway is firstly to make these places more prosperous (we can create better business environments), bring law and order (parts of Muslim world are pretty lawless) and change generational attitudes as a result (without the constant instability, threat of warfare and threat of poverty, children will be less prone to extremism).

After a decade of unpopular wars in the desert governments are not eager to get in another one.

If we were at war with Islam why on earth would they allow Muslim immigrants? Why is Turkey becoming a member of the EU? Why are we not just nuking the middle east? If there is a war on Islam we are doing a terrible job. Get over your victim complex.

We are not only at war with Islam so they will allow Muslim immigrants because multiculturalism is something that they embrace. Turkey is not a member of the EU but they are in NATO. Their goal is not to just kill all the Muslims because that instead to transform their countries into western style democracies where usury, alcohol, gambling etc are all allowed.
ISIS - Islamic state of iraq and the levant. If war is declared, could lead to WW3.

How do you target a largely hidden army?

They could be 'anyone'.
Errr i dunno.Maybe because the 1st and 2nd (gulf wars) attempt at bombing that region is the reason for the said group?
Same reason diplomacy doesn't work. You cannot even begin to try to reason with or eradicate their backward and barbaric ideology.
Because having an unstable middle east/north Africa is part of the West's agenda.

Because it's unpopular. There's also the fact that to completely defeat Islamism you'd have to effectively commit an ethnic genocide.

The hell is 'Islamism'? **** people come out with nowadays

One could argue that there is a war on muslim people who follow the religion of Islam in France, as highlighted by the laws perpetuated by their politics.

Which acts of 'terrorism' are you referring to, the Americans and their illegal war on Iraq/Afghanistan? Or how about the Israelis and there massacre of Palestinians?
Because if Britain was to declare war on IS, we would effectively be fighting a war within. Goodness knows how many radicalised Muslims there are in London alone, there would be street fighting in London. Like Iraq, it would be an unwinnable war.

This country has 60+ million people of which only about 5 million are Muslim. If there were fighting, it would certainly not be unwinnable.

That being said, i don't believe there's that many radicals here and we could stop them by imposing a complete travel ban to the UK.

We wouldn't though.

We need to fabricate a claim and have a casus belli. Otherwise, we will take a big stability hit and have highly elevated revolt risks across the empire.

Don't forget the Syrian nationalist rebels that will spawn after annexing and coring those provinces. We could vassal feed Turkey I guess.
