Will getting a masters degree help 'bump me up' so to speak as I didnt get a 2.1 hons

I want to know if by getting a masters degree it will improve my chances in getting into teaching or a grad scheme or something as I left my degree with only 300 credits. so not honours.

Any views are appreciated, thanks.

Almost certainly not I'm afraid. Mainly because without an Honours degree you won't get on any reputable masters course. If you want to pursue further academics, then getting a relevant professional qualification might work, if your preferred sector has such a thing. Otherwise work experience is the best compensation and it pays rather than costs.

why is that though when a masters is a level 7 qualification? I'm already doing a postgrad professional course (you needed a degree to be able to do the course). This is something I'm passionate at and good at, unlike my degree (also had personal issues) I think I would be capable and have the experience. My uni has the masters degree and says relevant experience may be considered so maybe.

Because like there are undergrad degrees and undergrad degrees, there are Masters degrees and Masters degrees - there is no effective commonality of standard. And there are more than enough people with good undergrad degrees to get on the good Masters degree courses. Without an honours degree and/or significant professional experience you aren't likely to get on a good enough Masters degree course to overcome your first degree.

However, if you are already on a postgrad professional course, you should be on track to get a professional job in the appropriate sector, and in 3-5 years with that professional experience a Masters application might be viewed differently.

You asked if the Masters degree would 'bump you up' and from that i presumed you meant 'improve my professional options', in which case Employers who are looking for academic qualifications such as a Masters usually have a plentiful enough choice from strong Universities.

If you are talking about a subject area that is fundamentally practical, rather than academic, you might find a way through, because of the specialist nature of the course and it only being taught at a few universities?

You will still be a fresh graduate with no experience.

Get a job - any level job - and start building up your CV.

This is far cheaper than doing a Masters degree that you will have to finance entirely yourself - both fees and living costs.

Im currently training to be an early years teacher, I have 6 months left. It involves working in early years settings and I work for an education agency also
