You don't even know what my prescription is...

You vote tory so I know your prescription. Less welfare spending. Less taxes on the rich. Blame poor people for being poor. etc etc

From what you've said in other threads your a bit too radical for my tastes.

You've got the first one right if you mean the budget as a whole, i'm not too bothered about IT for the rich and there are a multitude of factors that keep many people poor.

Have you met these people personally? I'm sure Old Etonians would probably look down on the poor but most Tories I've met from CF have tended to be middle class and not hold those attitudes at all.

Yeah, as I say I come from a conservative area (a village in Sussex). You get these little awkward moments at places like uni where people take the piss out of people like supermarket workers, assuming that no one there would have parents in those jobs.

Well what I advocate is based on sound reasoning. There isn't one party in the world that addresses issue like I do. I do not fit in the socialist realm or capitalist realm. I'm too radical for right wingers and to bourgeoisie for the left wingers lol

At the end of the day, voting tory is self defeating. They do not care about you or I or the OP. We are just pawns used to make them rich and powerful. When robotics is advanced enough to replace humans we'll see if you vote tory ever again LMAO

By the time that robotics advances enough to do that.. i'll be stinking rich from investing in it.

lol optimistic but highly unlikely.

If you have huge amount of capital or are a robotics engineer/computer programmer you will be ok. Otherwise, the 1% will invest in it, control it and then everyone else has to fight robots like in the terminator films :/

Maybe it won't be that bad. It will be clear who the enemy is unlike now.

The Conservative Party only ever gets elected with the help of large numbers of working class voters. It achieves this via a long-running con game (which goes back at least the the 19th century) which uses a range of tricks to persuade some working class people that they share their interests.

This can never really be true. The Tories exist to serve the interests of a tiny number of very wealthy people. (the owners of large scale capital) Nowadays, despite the way the Tories try to use patriotism, this is not even a British owning class - much of Tory funding comes from tax exiles and foreign interests. Their biggest backer owns much of Belize and is a major tax avoider. Cameron and Osborne are part of a circle of hedge fund owners, international capitalists and global tax evaders who refuse to participate in ordinary society and use the party as a tool to promote their personal interests.

Everything else is just an illusion, manufactured for the masses.

Anyone in doubt about the Tories should watch the Parliament Channel whenever Jacob Rees-Mogg is talking. It couldn't be clearer what sort of party they really are and what interests they really care about, despite all their tricks, the truth just can't help showing through.
personally, i don't think its wrong for being working class and conservative. you want to earn your way and pay less income tax. i have respect for your struggle and achievement.

but i want to say, i just can't stand the way that party plays mind games with people who have more simple and less empathetic views towards vulnerable people (sanctioning of disabled, some have died as result, since 2010) , used as scapegoats for reducing a supposed deficit caused by banking greed and mismanagement, and obeying the greed of large corporations who will only cough up a minimal tax, whilst paying there 'hard working families' (this slogan of theres is cringe worthy and makes me throw up a little) peanuts in min wage.

Its great if you are highly intelligent have that self confidence and can climb ladders. But most people get short straws with intellect, or go the wrong pathway, and are doomed with the prospects of zero hours and/or workfare. (workfare a tory wet dream). I hate this country's tedious service industry, and destruction of manufacturing caused by thatcher, not everyone can work in an office paper scuffling.
I m glad your dad got his benefits, because, maybe if you were born later he would have had that sanctioned and you and your family would have had more depression and insecurity to deal with.
soz for my bad gramma , but u know, gotta type quick.

Vote tory if you want kids that are in similar situations that you were once in to be stuck forever.

Vote Labour if you want pedophiles roaming the streets for your children.

Hi,

I would like to keep this anonymous for personal reasons.

I'm in my final year of a top 10 UK University, it's been quite a journey with lots of highs and lows since finishing A-levels and taking a Gap Year.

I come from the bottom 10% of society; we live in council housing, my father lives off welfare benefits after losing his job around 15years ago and my mother works part-time in Tesco. Our household income is probably around £10-12k per annum, however they are also gambling addicts. Life's been very hard for me, pretty much all my life - no security, no inheritance, no holidays, no role-models, my parents constantly arguing over money etc.

I kind of felt free when I came to university, where I could make a fresh start. During A-levels, I used to just go to the library every evening in my local town to escape the traumas and problems of home, it kind of felt like heaven to me. I managed to achieve straight-A grades at A-level and was determined to make something of my life as I knew if I ****ed up, I'd have nothing to lose anyway, how much worse could life get right haha?

Anyway I should hopefully be graduating this year, I've made lots of great friends and connections in the past 4years through being opportunistic and hungry..pretty much all my friends are middle/upper-middle class..so they've kind of changed my outlook and perspective on things. Like the way I speak now is a lot posher than before, you would probably think I'm middle-class if you met me..

I've also received a job offer from a top commerical law firm in London starting me on around £50k. Obviously this is a lot of money for someone from my background and it feels as though I'm gaining the fruits of my hardwork. Obviously coming from the bottom 10% of society, I will now be in the top 10% (income-wise)..paying 40% tax etc.

I share a lot of values with the Tory party, however when I tell people who know me from the beginning they say it's wrong for someone like me to vote Tory as it's full of toffs and middle/upper-middle class people who I can't relate to or don't care about the normal average joe on the street etc..

Was just wondering about the thoughts/views others had on this given my background..

Conservatives are about merit .. you obviously deserved your job by hard work.

You are actually the ideal Conservative.

Merit? lol

Unless the OP becomes a multi millionaire, the Tories aren't a good choice.

I'm not a Tory but I think that's wrong.

The problem is, the Tories and Labour have dominated british politics for a hundred years.

Now in these two parties, factions have emerged where you have the likes of Ken Clarke and Dan Hanaan in the same party. Just like labour has people like Chucka Ummuma and Denis Skinner.

Two party politics doesn't work when we live in a free society where informed (and uninformed) people have very different ideas of how to run a society that don't necessarily fit between a red box or a blue box.

Rees Mogg is a corrupt first class P***k though.

What is wrong with being a hedge fund owner and an international capitalist? Also, please define "ordinary society" and how tories don't participate in it.

This is strange, because the op proves that the tory mantra is correct. i.e. that if you are prepared to work hard for it, then anyone in this country can achieve success regardless of their background.
There's an assumption here that labour cares about the poor... It doesn't, or at least, it doesn't any more than the Conservative party does.

1) That mantra is not exclusive to Tories...

2) This is one example and this success is just a well paid job. Nothing more. He bust his arse for 50k a year. Do you think he is immune from Tory policies?

3) The OP is psychologically scarred and motivated solely by the fear of ending up like his parents. His parents were put in such a position by Tories.

1) Labour are always going on about how there are no opportunities for the poorest in this country, implying that it's near impossible to achieve success if you come from a poor background.

2) "Success is just a well paid job" in this society, success tends to be defined by how much you earn, whether rightly or wrongly. Also, i would say getting 50k for a first job is better than just well paid. As to the last part, I think it's a bit childish to talk about being "immune" from parties since at the end of the day all parties will have some policies which affect you positively, and some that will affect you negatively. It is clear though that anyone currently earning 50k would be best off voting tory.

3) That is unfortunate, but people shouldn't really base their perception of the Conservatives on decades old policies. Most of the OPs life will have been sent under a Labour government, and it evidently hasn't done much to remove his fear.
No.

because no government can be to blame for personal problems.

Government is a public servant, not master.
