I need loadss of help on choosing a level options pleaseeee!!!

So, you've got French and English Literature so far. If you think you'll enjoy Geography and Maths, take them. Having those as a four is both spread out and specialised enough that you're not really barred from very much.

Thanks so much for replying! I really appreciate it. The problem is I'm doing Triple Science so I'm sure I have to at least study one science don't you think?? I like Biology a lot i wouldnt mind a level.

I did Bio, Chem, Law and geography at AS then dropped the Chemistry and I have offers to do Biology at uni so choose stuff you enjoy and it will direct your path. Would you say I have to pick at least one science because I'm studying Triple Science and Maths because I'm doing Add Maths or not?

It's a really hard decision I don't really like maths but this year's work in additional maths is all for AS so it'd be a waste.

French I like a lot and Geography I find easy. These decisions are unbelievably hard I need to decide soon!

Not at all! Don't feel you "need" to take any subject. A friend of mine took triple science and got A*'s in all three, and then went on to do two arts, Eng Lit and French. Most people in my GCSE Triple Science class didn't take a single science A-level.

However, if you actually enjoy Biology, then take it. That's the most important thing about A-levels. You need to take what you enjoy, not what you "should" do or what you think "looks good", because A-levels take a lot of dedication.

I totally understand what you're saying and yes, I do enjoy biology. However, Maths is totally different. I'm studying Additional Maths and my teacher stated it's only to help step up to A Level. To be fair I don't hate maths, yet I don't enjoy it too. But I've been told maths is a must I'll have an advantage over all the others and it's the biggest A Level. If I'm on course for getting C/D on Additional Maths should I do It? Like everyone has said doing additional maths means a level is a MUST despite me disliking it! And maths can be used anywhere. It's just I feel I can achieve a better grade in Geography which I also enjoy more.

I do Maths to A2, and if you don't enjoy it, it's honestly not worth it. Out of all the subjects I took at AS (Took Biology, Physics and Media in Yr 12), it's definitely the biggest step up both in content and in exam style. It's also worth adding that Maths has three exams per year, whereas most other subjects will only have one/two.

If you think you'll do better in Geography (and most importantly, will be happier in Geography), then choose it. Maths may have a wider reach, but ultimately an A in Geography > U in Maths (or even up to a C in Maths).

Well done on those grades. Your A-levels are quite important as they determine which university courses you can apply for. Also, what do you mean that you "apparently" want to do dentistry or medicine? You either do, or you don't. Both are long courses and if your enthusiasm isn't there, you won't enjoy it. You also say that you don't enjoy biology or chemistry, are you sure you want to study them at A-level as they are quite challenging and again, if you're not enjoying the courses you'll struggle to do the work.

When do you have to hand in your final choices?

You are wrong. You do not need maths to study Medicine and dentistry.

I did Additional Maths at GCSE and I didn't do A Level Maths, oh no! If you're not a massive fan of maths now, don't do it for A Level. You will despise it.

If you want to study Medicine or Dentistry, you need to study Bio + Chem. But don't feel you're required to study a science because you do Triple GCSE.

If you like French and English Lit, do French and English Lit. It seems you're not sure what you want to study at university.

Plenty of jobs with arts. Have you considered a career in law? Teaching? Counselling? All those sorts of careers tend to be arts based, but counselling may require a social science A-level such as psychology or sociology.

Biology is an awesome A-level, I took it and loved it. Don't get me wrong, its difficult and takes time to get your head around some things, but its a really strong A-level and interesting course. I also did geography A-level which again was a lot of work, but worth it in the end because of its strong reputation as a facilitating subject.

I'm not too sure if a slight stammer would be a problem for French A-level, but maybe speak to your French teachers and ask what they think. A modern-foreign language (like French) would be an excellent A-level to have and would also allow you to apply for courses such as "Law with French Law".

There is so much you can do. A-levels only determine what university courses you can apply to, its the university course that really determines what careers you can get.

Talk to your French teacher if you're in doubt then. They'll give you the best advice. :smile:

English involves a lot of quote learning! Like, a lot. But if you like writing essays, then go for it.
Geography? I know that my friend studies stuff like rivers and case studies about population increase; I'm not very sure, but it seems to be a mix. I think it depends on the exam board you study it with. :smile:

Go for French, English Lit, and Geography. It seems you would enjoy it more than Maths.
