Doesn't happen to women more?

Look at films/TV/majority of adverts/newspapers/everywhere

tits are used to sell everything from cars to milk and its awful

it happens to men too and thats really not ok but it happens to women far far more

Lol at any guy denying this, get real bros.

But on the flip side, although women are sexualised in every day life more than men (because I'd argue in general men are more visually sexual creatures on average, sex sales more when aimed at them), violence against men as humorous is vastly more common than it is against women. I mean honestly it is incredibly rare for a men to smack a women being presented as funny, she deserved it etc. Where as comedy shows have men being slapped, kicked in the balls (SO FUNNY), on a daily basis. Even a women scorned chopped a mans penis off gets laughs and "lol go girl" by a certain segment of female society. Where as a guy cuts a girls clit out for cheating?....nah...you won't get the laughs.

We also still have the issue of men being stereotyped as emotionally inert so a level of abuse/jokes is fine, as its water off a ducks back. I work in an environment where depending on what I'm doing, I may be surrounded by mostly females. Female staff and customers will often, pretty much every shift, maybe a few times a shift, make a joke about men being useless, at times a direct comment on what I'm doing, despite me doing it correctly, or "well he's just a man you can't expect much" etc, it's all in good humor of course, and thus I should not be offended.

So basically, both sexes are treated poorly by the opposite sex at times, but in general we get along okay lol.

Firstly, bear in mind this is mainly due to the massive rise of easy access internet porn, rather than some noble sacrifice by News Corp or some dramatic change in the male gender's desire for sex.

As to whether its a good thing or not... always torn on this issue.

On the one hand, we've closed a line of employment for adult consenting women yay for... feminism, somehow? Surly feminism is about achieving equality of opportunity, not just dictating that women can and can't do some stuff. That's almost what I would consider sexist. ..

On the other, women clearly are objectified more than men and that probably does impact on how they are viewed in society and in the workplace. Is that because of the sun? Maybe. Will this make a difference? Actually maybe too. Probably a good thing overall just given how high profile is become, even though I disagree with the underlying notion i.e. that men and women should not only be equal, but they should also be the same.

I think women should have the choice to make their living whatever way they wish and not succumb to peer pressure from other women about what's feminism and what isn't.

They haven't been forced to get their tits out, they've made a choice to sell their image and more power to them if they can do that. Congratulations to feminists, they've lost their jobs.

Perhaps because it is a relic of the 70s, when women had different rights, feminists feel hostile towards it.

A person, male or female, has the right to be objectified if they wish.

But the placement is wrong; a newspaper isn't the place for soft porn
If the picture was of half naked Justin Beiber's and such there would be no problem, just because they are women, oh no, must be a problem.
The women that did not like it are basically perpetuating the inequality in what is socially acceptable for men and women to do. Men can be bare chested but women cannot.

...then go on to say they are feminists, looking for equality...
...o...........k

If you wish.

Excellent! It's very sexist and degrading. Could you imagine being a young woman on the train and seeing the man besides you looking at porn publicly? I always found it so weird even as a child. How is that acceptable? Welp, better late than never I guess.

Not really the same thing is it? Bieber is modelling underwear, and is marketed to his fellow man. Not as an object to the opposite sex. But you tried it!

Lol, I googled the head of that campaign organisation and wasn't the least bit surprised at what the leader looked like. No wonder.

but obviously all discrimination is horrible

Have you seen that Diet Coke advert where the guy mowing the lawn takes his shirt off after a bunch of horny women roll him the can? Or that Maltesers one where a guy bends over and some cackling birds start smiling about it?

If that were the other way round, women everywhere would be going mental. Actually, because the objectification of women is seen as such a crime these days (which of course, it's horrible), things that happen the other way round go completely unnoticed (which are often worse than what's happening to women).

Try imagining those adverts with the roles reversed, and come back to me. Also, I've never seen that milk advert you speak of but it sounds...interesting :holmes:

****ing feminists won't be happy until all men are miserable
Newspaper should be newspaper....Boobs & vaginas are not news or articles.

Have you ever been catcalled? If you haven't then you have NO idea how it feels to have someone single you out because you're a woman and I HATE how woman are portrayed in the media.

If every time you took the bus and someone was reading a popular newspaper with men reduced only to sexual symbols maybe you'd feel different.

I wasn't trying to pick a fight with you so I don't get why you're saying "Get used to it"

No. I'm not going to "get used to" sexism.

You are so full of **** it hurts my brain.

I have actually been catcalled and had my arse pinched on numerous occasions, how much of a **** was given those days? Zero.

You act like every time you leave your house men are catcalling you - get over yourself love.

Luckily i don't have to use public transport, but back in the days i did, i didn't stare around looking for someone who was reading a newspaper / magazine to find something to be offended by.

I see women all the time ogling attractive men in their magazines / on the street etc never given it two thoughts before, i'm aware men are attracted to women and vice versa - Who gives a flying **** if some bloke on the bus is reading the sun and skims past a pair of tits or if some women is drooling over a shirtless guy.

You should probably find something else to fulfil your life or believe me you will end up bitter and miserable.

Full page spreads about how x celebrity broke a nail or put on half a lb is not news either but it seems to get more attention then the tiny article somewhere deep in the middle about someone being horribly murdered. The Sun is a pile of garbage non news / bull**** news. Funny how no one's campaigning for newspapers such as The Sun and DM to stop printing fear mongering / outright lying articles misinforming the public about key issues.. But oh no what's important is that men don't see a pair of tits.. think of the children!! (who don't read newspapers).

I think it shows the arrogance of the feminists that they think they know what's best above all else and everyone else.
The models themselves are fine with it, they are models and it's their job.
Whether it belongs in a newspaper or not, and whether it's appropriate or not is another thing. I'm just taken aback (somewhat) by the arrogance of those campaigners who think they speak for all women and think they know best above everyone else.

Omfg you're such a troll. I came here because a thread was started so I offered my opinion.

There was no need to get nasty and personal over me sharing my opinion.

Please stop quoting me, you're being horrible and rude about me, not debating with me.

That was the first time i had quoted you.. And no, i'm not a troll.

You should get those feelings in check, there really is no point trying to find things to get offended by.

Anyway, good day then.
Boobs are naughty, better not show them.. way to kowtow to the feminazis

The only thing I'm saying is that I support this decision because seeing half naked girls everywhere really does suck.

"It sucks" for YOU, so you do not want anyone to see P3. Some people are not repulsed by the female form and think it is a thing of beauty.

Original post by JokerGirl
It makes me kinda think that some people think its ok to sexualise women and it's not. It's really not.

It is, it really is! To look at a woman and think "wow she is hot" is perfectly fine. As a species our very survival has hinged upon this sexualisation, if we had not sexualised each other in the past then YOU would not be here.

When you see someone you have never spoken to and do not know, it is perfectly natural to judge their looks. We cannot think 'oh what a wonderful person with great personality', we do not know WTF their personality is like or if they are a wonderful person.

So should we not be judging their looks? Well I am sorry but as I said our survival has hinged upon this and it is completely natural if evolutionary biology is considered and when did I sign up to have my internal thoughts moderated by prudish feminists?

Another ridiculous assumption is that if a man thinks a woman is hot that his mental faculites have been exausted and he has no room for other emotions or thoughts. I can look at a woman and think she is hot and also show her complete respect and value her opinion and intellect.

The number of times I'll be minding my own business and someone will beep at me or catcall me is ****ing horrible.

Really? you must be a real eyeful then because I cannot remember the last time I seen ANYONE being catcalled. Or is this more hyperbolic exaggeration by feminists, some of whom paint a picture that females are terrified to leave their house for fear of rape, violence and objectification.

I have absolute contempt for the message many feminists are trying to send out. If many young girls take their BS literally they could form very warped views of men which could lead to relationship and mental health issues.

I have nothing more to say other that porn shouldn't be in a newspaper.

Thanks for taking the trouble to decide for everyone what is and is not acceptable in society.

P3 does not show sex just partial nudity, there are so many ridiculous taboos about nudity in society. The human body is without doubt the most impressive piece of kit any of us will ever own.

Tits aren't news and its silly to say its not sexist and degrading.

It doesnt make someone sexist because they appreciate a pair of tits! Some woman are comfortable with their bodies, proud of their body and wish to show it off. Some woman find this empowering and some men are happy to look and appreciate it too. I fully support a womans rite not to wear scanty clothes and to define their self worth through their jobs, personality or whatever else. You have to remember that is not a representation of ALL woman though. Some woman care more about aesthetics. If feminists really want all woman to have choice then these woman should have their choices respected too!

So if we find a poll showing you to be in a minority we can all rest assured that we won't hear another word from you on the matter?

Sure, if you remain consistent in your logic and campaign to ban Men's Health Magazines, Women's Health and Gossip magazines, celebrity gossip magazines, as well as movie posters and any other form of media that presents human bodies as an attraction or as something to gaze it. Once you campaign ceaselessly and tirelessly, or at least acknowledge that in your mind there is a problem in most forms of media with the objectification of both men and women, that is fine.

As I've already said to a few people I haven't got the energy to keep arguing about this because it keeps getting personal with people being rude about me.

Not blaming you but I don't want to be quoted any more because whatever I say is clearly wrong and I should just accept that using tits to sell newpapers isn't sexist at all.

Please stop quoting me I don't want to do this anymore
Campaigning to remove some topless images from a news paper is pretty sad. You'd think people had better things to do!
