contemporary Scandinavian stuff like the bridge, the killing and The Legacy (if anyone's heard of that - sky arts are showing it at the moment) are very good.

Gomorrah also supposed to be good.

Have you watched all the three seasons of The Killing?

ah yes, I have - I genuinely love it. One of my favourite shows. Love the brooding, sinister atmosphere and the drawn-out mystery. Immersive.

Yes, I see what you mean. It's really great. I love the feel and atmosphere of the series.
How fast did you watch it? I've watched one episode per week for the first season. It's probably odd.

one per week - that is odd!
I'm ordinarily a bit of binge watcher of things, but the killing was another level: did series 1 in a couple of days (few late night sessions, sat up in bed in a cold sweat - especially around ep 15/16 - unable to go to sleep, absorbed).
Did series 2 in a slightly longer time frame, probably a week, out of restraint.
Did series 3 over a single weekend.

Totally agree about the atmosphere.

Haha! I know. The episode endings always make you want to watch the next episode right away! It's hard to resist!
On the other hand I still have 21 more ep's left
How did you hear about the series? (And also the other two)
My top 3:
- The Wire
- Firefly
- Arrested Development

Then also good:
- Boardwalk Empire
- Mad Men
- Breaking Bad
- Game of Thrones
- Modern Family
- The West Wing
- The Thick of It
- House of Cards (original UK version)
- Veep
- Life On Mars
- Hustle
- Leverage
- 24
- Bones
- Castle
- The Simpsons
- Futurama
- South Park
- Archer

If you like sci-fi:
- (A Town Called) Eureka
