If someone destroyed the NHS, people wouldn't be so lazy.

Why do we have this safety net?

People know that no matter how lazy they get, their most important asset, their health is protected for free, no matter what.

Take away the safety net and the whole country would be so much more motivated.

We should just keep it free for people who genuinely can't work due to disability.

lol by the way, I fully appreciate how wonderful the NHS is, I'm just wondering about the merits of this argument.

I can't get why people like you can't get basic concepts like the fact that there are many more people applying for jobs/unemployed than there are jobs available, so therefore if everyone tried as hard as they could there would still be loads of people unemployed and at the moment most people do try as hard as they can.

So if your Mum/Dad suffers from a heart attack, their survival entirely depends whether they would be able to survive the outcome financially?

Well to be fair they are the richest and most powerful country in the world.

Well my argument is, that a lot people only work hard because of the fear of not being able to pay bills or afford things they want. If health care was categorised into one of these things you had to work hard to afford, wouldn't everyone work harder?

You do realise that when they talk about employment rates they mean the number of jobs that exist, not the number of people who are not on their arse, right? The reason that so many wages can be so low is because the competition for jobs is so high, because there aren't enough jobs in the country for everyone.

your so deluded. what about the people who are born with conditions ? have they been lazy? what happens to them... its people like you I despise you come from rich home's and can afford to go private where as the poor people will struggle..

Without socialised medicine the outcome will be Social Darwinism. Those born with pre-existing conditions or certain disabilities without being born with a silver spoon in their mouth, will die. Just to spell it out clearly for anyone who misses that point.

And yes, I have seen TSR members in support of this outcome, seeing it as "burdens on society releasing themselves".

Can I just point out that not all of us with congenital disabilities, will actually die of them?
no NHS means UK life expectancy would drop to 3rd world levels.....and that's no joke or facetiousness.

Not many people, bar the super rich, and even those on very good salaries like 50000 plus per year, can afford even routine simple care let alone big operations.

to say this is laziness is *******s....it's about simple income levels in society. I'd say the same would be true in most countries with a nationalised health system, like France, Germany, Canada.

motivated to do what? be richer? more educated? the richest countries have NHS-like systems. in any society, you have people who abuse themselves, it's human.....
