Find the locus of z if |z+1| +|z-1| = 4

Im not sure where to start?
You can learn what they are by heart or... Sub in z = x+iy :smile:

expanding it after taking out the modulus leaves me in a mess with square root + square root = 16?

the answer at the back says 3x^2 +4y^2 = 12
