Funnily enough I'm at SpecSavers right now for an eye test
their eye tests are pretty cool; I've just done a focus test and they've taken pictures of the back of my eyes
Very interesting though, I've never met anyone that wants to study optometry so that's pretty cool!
I'm a bit more selfish than you I think
I can't really 'help' people with their lives in the same way a doctor or optician could, but I wanted to study Chemical Engineering for the challenges. It has a really nice balance of my favourite subjects (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) and it has both a very theoretical element along with strong applications. I'm more interested in the applications - seeing my calculations and ideas etc and looking at what they're like in the real world and not just on paper. To be perfectly honest, I care about the journey a lot more than the results, so I suppose what drew me to Chemical Engineering was the various challenges that they have to solve
e.g. How do we scale this process up? How do we minimise waste and improve efficiency of this process? With that being said though, I don't know what part of ChemEng I'll ultimately specialise in but I think I'll come to love it; I already love science generally so
I'd also consider becoming a maths or science teacher too
