How many wrestling fans think it's unscripted?

It was once said to me that wrestlers are conning people out of their money. I thought about this just now and came to the conclusion that they aren't conning people if the people know that it's scripted. Of course that only works if people do know that. I have never attended a wrestling event nor have I spoken to a great many wrestling fans, so I can't say for sure what proportion of people know that it's 'sports-entertainment'. I imagine that it is only the kids up to age 10 who think it is real. There is a video on youtube where a man calls in on a tv show which the wrestler Edge is on and the man who has a son states that wrestling is real, and the wrestler himself lets him down bluntly. I theorise that this is an extreme case and that nearly every adult with children or without knows that it is scripted but perhaps I will be shown otherwise. Either way I just want a consensus.
Thought it was real until about 11, and when i realised not stopped watching. Wrestling is **** and anyone over the age of 15 watching it should frankly reassess their life.

Most things on TV aren't real and yet people watch them, if you are entirely serious and not trolling.
It isn't real. But when Undertaker chokeslammed Mic Foley and threw him off the steel cage, dayaaaaam.

I've watched wrestling for years and it's obviously scripted. I've seen a documentary called Pro Wrestling's Greatest Secrets which exposed a lot of how they stage it.
Of course it's unscripted. You guys don't know ****.

Haha a lot of that was unscripted, Foley was just more badass than the scriptwriters so he made Taker do it. The ambulance crew and Foley brushing them off was all real too.
Anyone that thinks it's unscripted is either 9 or has an IQ of similar value. Even porn feature better acting than wrestling....

The very vast majority of wrestling fans recognise that it's a scripted entertainment show that they're watching, the same way that people who watch Coronation Street or CSI or any other television drama do. I've been on umpteen wrestling forums and attended umpteen live shows and I can't actually remember coming across anyone who thinks its real. Even kids know it's pre-determined.

Having said that, the UK is a "smart market" for wrestling, in that a large chunk of the fans who follow it talk using insider terms and follow the backstage news and rumours online. In the US there are definitely adults who think its real, especially in the deep South, but them people are kinda scary.
When I was little I thought it was real but at the age of around 11 I realised it was fake
On the show total divas (about the women in WWE) they even talk about how they get involved in the storylines so it's really obvious that it's scripted

Thank you, that is the kind of answer I'm looking for. When you say kids know it's predetermined do you mean all of the kids and what kind of age are we talking about? I myself was ~9 when I had it figured out but I had a helping hand so I imagine that a large proportion of 10 year olds at a show would not know what's what.

I have never watched that. Are you saying they break kayfabe on that show? I can't imagine them doing that on a show they know kids were going to watch :O

Had to google what that means lmao. But watch total divas. They showed a whole storyline (their words) when Daniel Bryan had to get surgery for an injury but in the storyline they created a whole scene about it which was fake and Brie Bella quit on there when she was really taking time off to look after her husband

I didn't know kids would watch total divas  I'm not even into wrestling but total divas is funny to watch haha
Probably fewer than the number of people who believe that the X Factor is a genuine contest.

Total Divas legit the worst thing to happen to wrestling since Vince started the PG era.
