Nus fass 2015

Hello guys, I'm S.Korean who is studying IBDP in VN.

I am planning to apply to NUS FASS (I want to study Theatre studies) and does anyone know the average IB grade to get an offer from NUS?
I heard that FASS isn't that competitive compared to other courses offered in NUS.

My predicted is 38/45 and I'm currently the Head Girl of our school and held many leadership positions for past few years. (I have lots of ECs related to Arts, specifically Theatre. I also have number of service and sports activities as well.)

Please help me out guys! Thanks!

Hi,I am a graduate A levels student from Singapore!!
I am not in FASS though, like you,I am applying to university later on this year but to get out of Singapore, lol

Personally,a 38 is quite safe to get in to FASS. You may want to clarify with the Department of Admissions

Alright,FASS is a big faculty for the arts~ You will enter in FASS as a regular arts student,to experiment/find out what you want to study first. Later on,you will then choose what you want>which is presumably theatre studies.

The application form is over here:

Thank you very much! I really appreciate your reply. I was quite worried since I don't have any SATs or toefl. (I study both Eng A and Kor A for lang and lit) Does NUS takes account of leadership experiences or ECs? Thanks for your help!

Alright, since you have taken IB English, you don't have to take SATS or TOEFL.
NUS will take into account leadership.

While academic merit plays a key role in deciding the outcome of your application, we also consider exceptional achievements in co-curricular activities and competitions. You must have attained a very high level of achievement or leadership positions in activities. Examples of such achievements include International Science Olympiad medals, top national awards, national team sportsmen and exceptional rank in top university entrance examinations (e.g. IIT/AIEEE rankings, etc.).

However, but to the question.Your IB score is definitely good enough to apply, without leadership experiences. I am sure it's good to go,so don't you worry about the leadership component for admissions

Omg you are being so much help! One more question though haha. Is FASS in NUS quite competitive? Do you know any average cut off points for either a level or ib? Thanks so much btw!

Entry into FASS is competitive, but not so sure about theatre studies. Cut-off points for A levels in FASS is BBB/B,although there was a recent article of raising the criteria of FASS to ABB/B. However,it should still be fine.

I personally think IB of 37 is the bare minimum, but I have no statistics to back me up,so sorry~

Thanks! But I heard there is a quota for international students. I'm applying as a local applicant though but would it affect my application? I hope I can get offers! :frown: Thank you very much!
