But that's your friends. We're not all like that. Not all of us are that interested in socialising. I'm generally not. I have a few groups of friends that I see a maximum of a few times a month.

Oh, and it's not an excuse.

yeah it is an excuse

If there would be little exciting in your life without alcohol or partying then it is your life that I would worry about being boring, not mine, I have passions and hobbies that could keep me entertained for years without doing anything else.

Do any of these hobbies include exercise, sex or socialising?

Because if not then man you are living life wrong

I weightlift and do Karate.

Otherwise I'm an extremely good (top 5 in the world at my game) player of RTS games.

I play guitar and can sing "professionally". I listen to music usually for about 20hours a week.

Otherwise I study informally - reading new academic papers, reading non-fiction books, listening to lectures/pod-casts online or otherwise studying informally.

Those very few things take up my entire recreational life, but since I do very few things in my recreational life that which I do end up doing I'm very good at.

10/10 life rating.......

I'm proud of that because I enjoy playing that game tremendously AND I love the community there AND I enjoy overcoming the challenges it sets. I see that as a far better pursuit than mindless chatter about nothing with people I don't care about or indulging in primitive pleasures such as gluttony or food-devouring. Granted drugs are different, since drugs give this exact pleasure easier, the difference though between drugs and sports is that drugs are unhealthy. Yes, video games when played competitively are sports. Psychologically there is no difference and we're talking about psychology here in rating one another's lives.

Ok, let's completely ignore the fact that currently, I can't actually drink alcohol due to the medication I'm on:
I don't really like the taste of alcohol. Being drunk isn't, ime, that good. It's a rubbish feeling. I'd rather be in control of what I'm doing. I also have better things to spend my money on.

Nuff sed

Basically because I'm not legal yet...

Who does not being legal ever stop? :lolwut: I used to always get black out drunk when I was underage, just because it was Thursday :indiff: I still drink but now only some sips of my morning screwdriver/orange juice + vodka on the rocks. No more pounding shots back and sucking em off strangers, vice versa. I'm a lady :girl:

Aren't you bored of seeing all your friends having a good time on the strip?

Not at all. After seeing the kinds of situations some of my friends have been in after getting drunk (e.g. vomiting into their own hair, lying almost unconscious in the middle of a road, urinating in front of everybody, and doing plenty of things they'd dread to find out they'd done the next day out of embarrassment), it doesn't really look much like "having a good time" to me.

You say you can have fun without alcohol but when everyone around you is drunk is it not just weird and awkward?

It's not very often that everyone around me is drunk. But even on those rare occasions - no, why would it be awkward for me? If anything you'd think it'd be awkward for them.

Did you think it would be Starcraft 2 and I'de a millionaire?

Christ, I wouldn't be on TSR then would I? I'de be practicing for 10hours a day.

Still, this took years of practice and many thousands of hours of study to accomplish + I have fans + I've made a few hundred quid from it. It works for me

I don't think you quite understand how difficult it is to be world-class at a video game. Then again you weren't the one who spent near 10000 hours working on achieving that so you wouldn't.

There was a thread on this before. It IS just like the olympics.
