The Student Room Group

C1 Powers

I'm struggling with: 2^x * 4^x+1 = 8

So far I did 2^x * (2^2)^x+1 = 8 so
2^x * 2^2x+2 = 8

But I don't know if this is right, or what to do next.

Thanks!

you got it so far and you do not know what to do next?

Use parenthesis like (2^x)*((4)^(x+1)) =8

So it should be like this:
2^x * 2^(2x+2) = 2^3
2^(x+2x+2) =2^3
Since bases are.......
3x+2=3
There..
