Feminism has done more harm than good

Feminism, which is actually "equality of the sexes movement" and has "femi" in his name because of history, is good.
Women who want to have privileges and oppress men are, surprise... sexist!

I agree
if I called myself a "masculinist" and claimed it was about equality, who would take me seriously? apparently, though, it's okay for "feminists" to do it, because, well, privilege is very hard to resist for some...

These women point out valid thoughts

Feminism isn't about supremacy. It's about equality. And did I just seriously read a woman saying she "serves her man"??? she shouldn't be allowed to get out of bed In the morning let alone post comments in the Internet. Silly girl.

You see. That is the problem. Feminism promotes equality. Let women have choices. Choices to vote etc. If a woman chooses to serve her man, what EXACTLY is wrong with that. She is happy and does not fell oppressed. What EXACTLY is wrong with that

No one should serve anyone. Man to woman. Woman to man.

oh for the love of christ
2015's feminism is not 1918's feminism. what are you, 100 years behind? it's the same with the term "liberal" - in 1920, "liberal" didn't mean quasi-socialist left wing individual, it meant very right wing anti-socialist individual. that's the thing about terms - though their definitions in a dictionary may be very slow to reform, people in the real world understand that their traditional values change, sometimes radically so - with the case of feminism, it has ditched the idea of equality, or rather, legal, or equality of opportunity, and has placed "women's rights" as the top (or only, in my opinion) priority, and many of these "rights" cost the rights of men to legal equality.

the kind of feminism today is *easily* what is known as "radical feminism" whereby legal and liberal values are not important, but, rather, "women's liberation" (liberation from what, exactly, is a huge question in my eyes), and women getting more than men unfairly, because they're "victims" , even though they're *really* not (and I'd argue it the opposite in many cases, that men are more so victims)

See my above post, it applies to you.

You have a different definition of feminism, which supports your own attitudes. The definition of feminism is so ambiguous everyone has their own version to suit their own agenda.

A name change is deffo in order to stop giving people who oppose gender equality an excuse to ridicule and diminish a social movement which has good intentions for the most part. Every group has it's extremes, it's radicals. It's unfortunate that humans tend to remember and cling on to those the most, as opposed to it's more rational members. The radicals are always the most prominent members, the ones who come to mind first when you think of feminism, or Muslims for example. But we need to rationalise ourselves and remember that these are not wholly representative of the group. Most rational (normal) feminists go unnoticed because well... They're normal.

if you're admitting that there is effectively no definition, then how can *anybody* call themselves a feminist? and do you honest expect people who call themselves feminists, in 2015, to be thinking of the 1920~s style of feminism? really? you do? seriously? honestly? genuinely? do you consider people who are in favour of racial equality are also people who would rationally call themselves, in 2015, "abolitionists"? it's the same problem - feminism is a part of our law (and beyond, e.g. men have less rights now than women, provably) so people who advocate "feminism" are really just advocating "the law", so clearly they're advocating something else, or else everybody who supports the existence of our laws is a "feminist" in the modern sense, which is *very* disagreeable when feminism, in 2015, suggests that the current radical feminist form of law doesn't go far enough, or else they wouldn't call themselves feminists but, again, they'd simply be known as "people who support the law"

"Feminazis" do you realise how ridiculous that word is and offensive to the millions who died as a result of the REAL Nazis? Feminists haven't killed millions. Stop equating a few stupid extremists to a horrendous group who murdered millions.

Actually feminists are responsible for the murder of tens of millions of babies (or as they like to call it, abortion).

I have not really researched on this whole concept of feminism

in an alternative reality, at this point, you realised you shouldn't post yet another idiotic thread on something you know nothing about, but instead should go and do some research on the subject, maybe read a few books, that kind of thing.

Yes, really, I do, honestly, genuinely, seriously. When I read that 'feminism has done more harm than good', my mind went straight to the most prominent successes of feminism in my mind. So yes, the right to vote was up there at the top. How can OP exclaim that feminism *has done* more harm than good, when the very reason she can vote is because of feminism.

I'm not saying there is no definition. I'm saying the definition is probably as ambiguous as the term Christian. People need to accept that not everyone in a social group shares the exact same attitudes, goals and means to achieving goals.

What rights do women have, that men don't?

Feminism is a flawed ideology and it only sounds good when you are brainwashed

oh please don't play dumb. feminism in 2015 has nothing to do with political/civil rights. it's about group rights, meaning that women are demanding special group privileges/treatments. they want the state, in many cases, to give rights that they wouldn't give men, e.g. political/corporate gender qutoas, better all-girls schools than all-boy schools, more funding for women patients in medicine and more or domestic abuse victims for are women, enforcement of women getting more money (regarding that supposed gender pay gap) when they don't deserve it for doing less or less demanding work (and more)

and to answer the latter question:
men have later retirement ages/less time in retirement legally
men have lower maternity time periods
men are not allowed to be favoured over women via quotas, but women are allowed to be favoured in quotas over men
the courts give women a monopoly on child custody
women can change their minds about having a child, while men can't
women, in the legal system, are hugely favoured in terms of prison-sentences, seeing as over 90% of prisoners are male, and this is involving men who go to jail for the exact same crimes as women
and in practice, men cannot harm or harass women (or rape girls), while women can easily get away with harming and harassing men, and raping boys

Gotta say one thing.

Search the #yesallwomen hashtag on twitter. It trended a while back and brought out the feminists that ruin the feminist movement.
It also brought out the trolls and there were some gold posts :s-smilie:

Essentially, Feminism has been undermined by a minority of the movement's members who say the most ridiculous things.
