[URGENT] Applying for medicine in Ireland

The applying process seems too simple...

All I've done is put down a list of courses at different uni's in Ireland with my four A levels and have registered for the HPAT test.
I haven't listed GCSEs or a personal statement or reference.
Is this all I have to do? Worried I haven't done it right and deadline is the 15th January

Is anyone else applying for Ireland from the UK that could help?

The universities then send you an email asking for certain documents like identification, personal statement, email of your reference. Well at least thats what RCSI, TCD and UCD did with me.

You have to send copies of your certificates to CAO. It's meant to be sent within 7 days of beginning your application. Read the instructions on the website for the details

Also, you don't need a personal statement and there are no interviews. The southern unis are known for that.

Really? TCD invited me for an interview and asked for a personal statement. Rcsi said on their website that an interview is compulsory. I guess it's different for international students in Ireland.

Oh yes sorry I'm not sure about international students! I just presumed whoever posted it was from the UK because of A levels and all 😊

Hi all,I am from Singapore! I am not so sure whether I need to take HPAT,since I am a non-EU applicant.

I was just interested in Ireland universities, especially the AAB ones. I was initially worried of going beyond Australian universities. However,I met a doctor friend of mine in National University Hospital, currently specialising in Ophthalmology, that set me thinking whether I should apply over there. She applied to Ireland a while back and got into Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland>It's not in IUMC. However,it's recognised by Sg.

I am interested in Galway 6 year foundation programme,5 year programme for Royal College of Surgeons,University of college cork.

I am still not sure about University college dublin international entry requirements for Cambridge-Singapore A level exams,do you know by chance??

Just found out that for my score tabulation,I will require straight As to apply for Trinity College Dublin and 5 years course at Galway,so that's out of my league for now.

However,I am keen on applying for medicine, especially those that don't require straight As entry.

Looking forward to your replies,guys

Hey, I applied as an international student too. When did you get the invite for interview and have you gotten an offer?

Just did my interview with TCD. They told me to wait for 6-8 weeks for a decision, and it's only been a week so no offer yet. Got the invite at the start of Jan.

Panel. I am predicted a 41/45 for the IB. And a bunch of work exp and volunteering activities for the past five years. Typical applicant tbh. It was alright, i could have definitely said more for the questions that they asked me. See what happens in 5 weeks.

Oh cool. Hopefully you'll get in. Did you apply directly or through an agent? And when did you apply?

That's quite high,I hope to get an IB equivalent of 37-38 for A levels exams in Singapore, but that will at least allow me to apply to Royal College of Surgeons,UCC,Galway?

Can I ask you about applying for halls?? I read somewhere that applications open in March, but I won't know if I have even got an offer by then. I am concerned that by the time my results come through in August, all the accommodation will be full. Thanks

I had that same problem. I applied to halls too late. I ended up in Jennings pool albeit its next to the med school but it isn't the best and I have to share toilet/bath.
March is a little early but there's no harm in applying just don't pay the deposit until your offer comes. I'm saying this because there are some halls that give preference to 2nd years and postgrads, so get your application in and wait.
Im not sure when your offers come out as I applied as a mature and was interviewed and my offer came quite late (early August).

Thanks for that. I think the undergrad offers come out in August too, but as you say I am going to go ahead and see what I can do about getting onto a waiting list or something ... all seems weird but I suppose they need an idea of numbers interested in being in halls
