Your idea of peacekeeping is dropping nuclear bombs on innocent civilians, killing thousands of lives?
It wasn't done for no reason, the Japanese refused to end the war, so the bombing was a last desperate measure. Also USA may be been the ones to drop the bombs but it was in collaboration with their allies, so it's unfair to pin this on just them.
I hear a question like that and I think throughout the entirety of the world's existence.
If the question said "who's the biggest threat to world peace today?" then I would answer differently.
So during the time of the annual world peace conference you think that they are all in there discussing how they can achieve world peace in the year 1256? When people talk of erradicating world hunger you don't think they mean world hunger today but world hunger in the time of the Mayan Empire? Do you think that comic relief put the cheque that they write in the post and address it to 900 years ago? You're being ridiculous.

I'm being ridiculous? You're the one ignoring the past tense in the question.
But I do find how selective people in Europe can be over recent post war history.
Americas support in defeating maxi germany. The Marshall plan. Financial support for NATO. Stationing troops in Europe to stop Warsaw pact troops.
Maxi germany rofl. 70% of german casualties lied at the hands of the soviet union. But yes america supported in defeating nazi germany. Keyword : support
