Why aren't the west declaring war on ISIS?

No one would win a war like that anyway. As long as there's at least one person who would follow ISIS, ISIS will remain and go on forever. Besides, what would the results be? It just wouldn't work out. It would be a pointless war.

Which acts of 'terrorism' are you referring to, the Americans and their illegal war on Iraq/Afghanistan? Or how about the Israelis and there massacre of Palestinians?

Which illegals wars. If you could show an international courts ruling that Iraq and afgjanistan were illegal I'd happily read them. International courts ruling. Mind you, no legal opinion.

I definitely remember being welcomed into Basra. I sure as hell remmeber afghans welcoming me to supprt their legal government.

The only reason more palestinians are dying than Israelis is because Israel defends it's people with the iron dome system. Hamas is a activity trying to create civilian casualties as part of a rather intricate media campaign.
ISIS are there to do a job.

The job is to kill Assad.

Yet again, the US fail to understand what they are dealing with and ISIS invade Iraq.

The US will not intervene in a meaningful manner until Assad is out of the government or dead.

Turkey want Assad dead too so they will not secure the border.

Israel want Assad dead because he supports Hezbollah, Palestine and Iran as well as being a Pan Arabist and socialist. They allow arms to move through their country. They give medical care to ISIS fighters etc etc...

If they wanted to stop ISIS, they would have to stop pursuing Assad's death which contradicts their original objective. Unluckily for the US, the UK and France already disposed of Gaddafi in a dishonest and criminal manner so this dents the credibility of the west.

The west hates what Assad stands for so they must kill him.

Even you destroy ISIS, there will be many of them.Plus IS is not recognised as a state by anyone.

ISIS isn't a major threat to the West currently.
Once they take over Turkey and start knocking at Greece's door, then they'll be rid of. That's only IF they get that far, and that's highly unlikely.

> Arm the rebels
> Rebels turn into crazed militia
> Fight said rebels

If the US marines and UK army and all other european armies gang up on ISIS and send our boys swarming in on ISIS would have cease to exist by now just like the ottoman empire. So what are we waiting for? why aren't we doing it?

Because a solid decade of intervention in the middle-east has taught us one thing: Sending our boys in just makes things worse in the long run.

I love how keyboard warriors say our men would go and fight wars when they don't have the balls to do it themselves.

Rubbish! Are you now saying that ISIS represents Islam? Do Moslems in general support ISIS? I don't think so.

For someone who says freedom to speak should not including the right to offend, you are pretty offensive, aren't you. Ironic, eh?

i would say ISIS represent Islam

That must be in the same way that the Continuity IRA represents Roman Catholicism then.

I don't think you have thought that through, though, as IS is fighting Moslem civilians, Moslem countries (e.g. Syria, Iran and Iraq) and even other Moslem terrorist organisations (Hezbollah).

The IRA are not motivated by catholicism and many atheists have fought in the IRA. And on the contrary the founding fathers of irish republicanism were protestant

Also the Catholic church ex communicates anyone who joins the IRA

ISIS will only hold power so long as the West does nothing and is hesitant and fights like a coward(thats why they have lost a lot of wars with small countries because they don't use their biggest weapons). There is no doubt that ISIS would collapse and lose power quickly if the West launched everything at them including nuclear bombs, ISIS has nowhere near the military strength of the West.If the West becomes strong and refuses to let any violent groups like ISIS rise to power then they won't as they will realise that their fight is in vain and that they will never match the West.Maintaining peace should done through maintaining a strong power difference between groups such that rebellion is futile, this is generally how Governments work I think a lot of people would blow the door off Parliament if they had the power to do so but the Government is far more powerful than civilians.People will die in the short term in these wars but in the long term lots of lives will be saved, those who would have died due to inaction against ISIS thats the morality of war and why soldiers actually save lives in the long run.
It's not politically desirable and the West has a lot of economic issues right now. We should be doing far more to help the Kurds though.
I thought this might be of interest to contributors to this thread:

Don't forget the Syrian nationalist rebels that will spawn after annexing and coring those provinces. We could vassal feed Turkey I guess.
