Didn't read the article, but as per the thread title: yes we should. They go of their own volition, nobody is forcing them to join ISIS/whatever they're calling themselves now. Why should anybody be blamed but themselves? If they want to go, let them go. Just don't let them back in.

They were preyed upon and are being used. They have no clue what it is they are headed for. They are stupid children who are being used by predators who are abusing their faith and calling their god on their side. ISIS are everything you have said, they are also Islamic and that appeals to some, who want to serve their god. A powerful tool in this kind of grooming.

I agree. The three teenagers who went to join IS are described as "straight-A students", which leads me to believe that they are reasonably intelligent, and fully capable of understanding the crimes that ISIS is so freely perpetrating in Iraq and Syria, especially given that their crimes have been widely publicised. While they are minors, which means that the state has some responsibility for them, I think we also need to recognise that these people willingly joined one of the vilest terrorist groups on the planet. Now, the real question is what caused them to be susceptible to be radicalised, and the answer to me, is that the jump to ISIS' ideology from a conservative Islamic one isn't that far.
