Is australia an asian country?

Just saw that they won the Asia cup. What are they even doing in Asia cup???

They should join the Euro cup. Its a fact that australians are descendants of English.

Because there's no point winning it in Oceania.

Then come and play in the Euro cup. Which part of an australia looks like asia?

I am looking foward towards Australia participating in euro cup, not winning it of course.

It was until 'ol whitey came along to supposedly 'civillise' the natives which essentially means paving over all the natural greenery so no one can grow their own food, privatising land to grow food on and then selling food and other god given rights like water back to them in return for their labour  just like we do anywhere we seem to go.

Now Australia is just a scond home for the british working class, who couldn't quite hack it here and blame their lack of success on immigrants....
yes there is a deep, awful sense of irony isn't there, especially when you realise brits in particular have been invading and dominating foreign lands for hundreds of years.

It's the only country to have claimed a whole continent

How many continents are there then?

Because New Zealand is not in the Australian continent.

7.

And New Zealand is left in the cold like an abandoned child with no continent to call home?

Oceana

That makes 8 continents then.

Africa

North America

South America

Europe

Asia

Australia

Oceania

Antarctica.
According to Wiki there can be anywhere between three and seven continents, depending on the model used. Though all of them seem to be including New Zealand as part of the Australian continent. :beard:

They're joining the Eurovision too.... go figure :dontknow:
This is just like the case of Russia. Geographically Russia is both Asia and Europe, so that they are eligible to participate in Asian and European events.
According to textbooks, Australia, New Zealand and many tiny small (negligible) islands are under the continent of Oceania (It's really called OCEANIA! Oceania stretches out over the Pacific and part of South East Asia, covering Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. But if you are just talking about Australia and New Zealand, you just generally call them Australasia. )
But well, Australia is accepted as part of Asia too.
There are many countries that are accepted as parts in two continents. (Like Turkey, Iran....etc)

But that means that New Zealand in continentless. As New Zealand is not included in the Australian continent.

New Zealand is not part of the continent of Australia, but of the separate, submerged continent of Zealandia

No it isn't
It is a country in the continent of Australasia (or Oceania)
Continents:

Europe
Asia
Australasia
Africa
North America
South America
Antarctica

There is some ambiguity around it

So what continent is New Zealand in?

To the best of my knowledge, I still stand by Australia is a country and belongs to the same continent as New Zealand and other surrounding countries

A continent is a group of countries, not a country
