Is Biomedical Science a respected and good course?

Plus I got an offer from Warwick. I actually have not visited but will probably visit in the near future. So my question is, is biomedical science good?Is Warwick Uni good?

Plus which degrees out of the list is most respected/employable. I know it depends on what you get and it's quite a stupid question...

Biomed is a very popular science course and the jobs are very competitive because there are so many people with good degrees but just not enough jobs so expect competition so be the best you can.

If you like the course modules and what youre studying it should be fine. I considered it for my options this year but chose 5 biology/biological science degrees.

Im yet to apply :frown:

Hi, Biomed is a really good course. Extra special is your course is accredited. I am planning on post grad Dentistry afterwards and they deal mostly with Biomed graduates. I also have a number of GP friends who took the Biomed route. Also very good if you have a change of heart and find a calling in research.

I did biomed at Manchester. It's a great degree. It's ideal for post-grad medicine but also will give you a good grounding for research, industry, science journalism and all sorts. Biomedical Scientist is an actual career, which I didn't know before I started, but you can only get into it if your biomed degree is accredited by the HCPC and Institute of Biomedical Sciences. Could be work looking up so you know you've got a fall back career.

Biomed is great because it's quite broad so you will be able to try different things to see what interests you most and I'm sure NTU has the option to change courses after first year.

Oh alright thanks 😉😊. , like I know that the course will allow you to distinguish what area you'd like to specalize in... but I was thinking. .. you know what it's hard to explain 😵😵

Hi guys, I applied for biomed this year and I have hard time choosing between King's College London, University College London and Queen's Mary University of London. Could you tell me what uni you think is best for biomed if I want to get into graduate entry medicine? :biggrin:

I was faced with the same trilemma last year. Eventually, i settled on KCL based on wow factor. UCL is excellent, but I felt that KCL gave me better options in terms of pursuing my interests and strengths. There is no right answer - my personal opinion is that ranking doesn't matter too much when you are dealing with top universities anyway, just go for what feels right. Definitely go and look around, speak to some lecturers and students.

Saying that, KCL allows you to apply to GEM directly - without hassle of UCAS. I don't know too much about other two (Pretty sure that QMUL offers same?), so cannot advocate for them.

Because, for me at least, it's a course that has under-delivered.
You've got lecturers who can't teach, and others who openly don't want to be there. Content that's mind-numbingly dull. It's just...dry if you get me. When I do stuff I like to see results, see my creation come to life if you will. It's not too far fetched to say if I'm not allowed to create for too long, my mind goes to dark places (and science is the opposite, it's a tonne of useless stuff I don't care about). Biomed, you're sort of do this task times infinity until you retire (I worked as a trainee for a year and after shadowing a doctor years ago, a hospital is the last place I want to work), not forgetting CPD, on call, the need for a 2 year specialist portfolio to advance (I've done mine to get me to band 5 so I could work as a biomed if I wanted and one was enough). I used to like science back in school, now can't think of anything worse than being stuck doing it so I spend as little time as possible looking at it. Consider this too, in a recent poll in my final year lecture, 1 person wanted to go into biomed when they were done. No one else.
