Harris Westminster Entrance Exams

HWSF is partially Westminster school, and over there they send 50% of their students to Oxford and Camebridge. Shouldn't expect much less at HWSF.

But you have to consider that this is an inexperienced Sixth form with only a year of teaching. I'd say it will do better than a normal school but not as good as Westminster Independent School; not yet at least.

I still havnt got a letter and I have already done my interview about a week ago now. Does that mean I didn't get in?

Just got the letter said I can't be offered a place but will be put on a waiting list.
The cut off score to be eligible was 464 and I scored 467 (395 for test and 72 for the interview) and that you had to get 499 to be offered a place.
This has seriously upset me since during the entrance exam 75% of subjects I did not even do at gcse.

Wait... You needed 499 to get offered a place! Are you sure? I gotten a score of 494 and still got offered a place. I didn't really understand the part of how you needed a 499 to get offered a place.

Okay I'm really upset because my score was above the cut off score but I was rejected because I have no priority and now I don't know what to do

The letter said i got 629 (528+101) yet I was still rejected........

What would better, harris or watford grammar!!!
bearing in mind watford is 1 hour away, and harris is 30 mins.

This can be applied to many schools, such as st dominics instead of watford.

Essentially a traditional, proven school VS one with promise and funding, considering distance

yes i do live outside london but i really wanted to go and 750 is the max as each exam+interview is out of 150

im really upset i dont think its fair that someone who gets 464 and lives in london can go and i can't. but i kind of anticipated it happening.

I went into the same situation with Wilson's Sutton Grammar School and Harris Westminster. I went for "traditional, proven" than a school with money and infrastructure ("went for" being putting it as first choice). I have not heard of Watford so i cant judge, it might be or not be better, go to an open evening and decide. Good Grammar schools normally provide with less opportunity and support, however, they are proven, they look good on CVs, they teach you what you need to know one way or another; be it harshly. HWSF seems to do something similar, but without proof of its awesomeness, and its a lot less traditional, religious, and harsh. If its a Bad Grammar school, ditch it, you are better off without it, they have the worst of both.

78% of students achieved 2 or more A' levels at A*-B
42 students achieved 3 or more A*/As
19% of the results were an A*
46% of the results were at A*/A

I would say they are pretty good, havent really experienced the atmosphere (unlike HWSF which seemed nice), and what about distance..
is 2 hours every day (both ways) too long?

Ewin, you are probably in the top two priority groups because it clearly states that if you are in the third priority group then you need a score of 500+.
