If you have priority you can get offered a place without meeting the required test scores.
This includes:

Living in a deprived area
Free school meals
Being or have been in care
Living in greater london ( not sure about this one have to re-read a letter as it might be a hinderence )

you have to score above 499 if you are in the Greater London priority category

The letter said i got 629 (528+101) yet I was still rejected........

Why dont you try to appeal? You might get in.

If you're in care then they would put you within the first priority group, so your score doesn't matter so long as it’s above 464 (or whatever was said on the letter). All that the priority categories mean is that after looking at all the applicants who achieved the minimum score, they will simply rank them based on what priority group they're in and the requirements for that group. At least that's what I understood from it.

I think you should give them a ring. I'm not entirely sure about their admissions process and the whole 'priority' stuff but it's definitely worth asking for clarification :smile:

Definitely ring them up or appeal because if you are in care you should definitely have a place (as long as you scored over 464)

Wow I'm really sorry to hear that you totally deserved a place and to be honest I didn't really agree with their socialistic selection process even though I'm in care. But with scores like that I'm sure you will be able to secure a place once your on the waiting list.

Thanks but the waiting list still uses the same priority system so I would still have no chance as living outside greater london automatically makes me the last person they will ever come too. :/

I personally think you have a really good chance of getting in even if you live far- one boy lives all the way in Essex who goes there! If anything wait until results day because last year they put up applications after results to accommodate extra students as not everyone will end up going to HWSF :smile:

It's better to ring and ask instead of worrying because you may be able to get a place- but you won't know if you don't ask

But you have to consider that this is an inexperienced Sixth form with only a year of teaching. I'd say it will do better than a normal school but not as good as Westminster Independent School; not yet at least.

I'm a current student, and would like to point out that we have 7 months of history, and Westmister had 7 centuries of history.

I was wondering what your overall verdict of the school is? Are the teachers etc. good? And what sort of grades are people aiming for/achieving currently? Sorry for the questions but I'm debating whether to choose HWSF over my current school :smile:

Of course I'm giving Hwsf a chance, i wouldn't have applied if that's the case. I was just simply talking about its not going to be as good as Westminster yet.
