One of my favourite stories (and I have millions) was when the TSR Transformation Competition in the Fitness section was so successful in the first instance, that for the second version the TSR management decided to up the ante in terms of how much the sponsors should be paying. Even though the sponsors were probably only getting like 5 new customers max, TSR decided that they should pay the same as what universities pay to advertise here, so the price went up from 3 bags of protein powder to something in the region of five figures. Needless to say, the supplement companies just didn't email back, probably assuming that the boys in Brighton were literal windowlickers. TSR then took this back, and decided to allow them to advertise at only a slightly inflated price, and this deal was once again ignored. Eventually, management realised that they were all stupid and asked one of the members here to negotiate for them. He just told the companies that the admins were all stupid, and they could stay on the same deal they had been on before. Thanks to his work undoing TSR's gaffe, the contest is now in about it's 8th season and has its own subforum. I don't know
The plot twist? The guy they asked to organise this business transaction is the same guy they banned for posting gay porn in AAM.
I might have some of the details wrong on this, but honestly I couldn't have made it up if I tried.
BTW I am nearly 100% sure the site has changed hands since then, but I wouldn't count on the new ownership to be any brighter.
